Jean Kirkowski Obituary

Jean C. Kirkowski (nee Bartos) of Holiday City Berkeley, section of Berkeley Township, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013 at Community Medical Center, Toms River.

Born in Jersey City, N.J. she lived there until she moved to Holiday City Berkeley 22 years ago.

Surviving are her children Dr. John Kirkowski and his wife Patricia of Troy, Pa., Christina Kirkowski of Toms River, Helene Webster of Toms River; and her five grandchildren Kerry Kardos and her husband Tom of Manchester, N.J., Charley Webster of Union Beach, N.J., Denise Bowler and her husband Jason of Downers Grove, Ill., Janine Pentzien and her husband Jonathan of New York City, N.Y. and John Kirkowski and his wife Elizabeth of Corona Del Mar, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren. Jean was a frequent visitor to Troy and Canton and had many friends in the area.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 14, 2013, at St. Maximilian Kolbe RC Church, Toms River. Entombment followed at Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel, N.J. The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals was in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ryanfuneralhome.com .

My sympathies to Jean's family. I remember when Jean used to visit my mother-in-law, Florence, at our home in Pt Pleasant Beach. Florence enjoyed those visits very much. When Jean would ask where Florence would like to go for lunch, she would always answer: McDonald's! Jean was my husband Tom's Godmother and he always spoke of her warmly. I remember Jean to be a thoughtful and kind woman. Rest well, Jean and give a hug to Florence from me when you see her.
