Gerald Tibbs Obituary
He was the husband of Diana S. Burger Tibbs, his wife of 47 years.
Born June 26, 1938 in Ashburn, Va., he was a son of the late Anias Henley and Margaret Cecilia Shupe Tibbs.
In earlier years, Mr. Tibbs worked for H.C. Summers, a number of different construction companies and at Alpha Portland Cement Company for more than 14 years. He presently owned and operated Gerald Tibbs Trucking Company.
He was a loving husband, father and especially devoted grandfather. He also loved spending time with his dog, "Spuddy."
Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by a son, Gerald D. Tibbs Jr. and wife Cynthia, of Thurmont; a daughter, Kathy Ann Tibbs Early and husband Glen, of Frederick; four grandchildren, Jessica Marie Tibbs, Leon Dewayne Early, Stephanie Leigh Tibbs and Gerald D. Tibbs III; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John Lewis Tibbs, Lanes Jackson Tibbs, Joseph William Tibbs and Dewey Douglas Tibbs.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 22, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, from the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Charlotte J. Mayne will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
