On July 22, 2016, two days after the death of his beloved brother, David. Bruce was born June 1, 1931 in Southern California, the middle of five children of Mabel and Louis Sever. After several years flying in the Air Force, he attended Georgetown University, graduating in 1960. Bruce then began his career as an economist for the U.S. Department of Commerce''s International Trade Administration, retiring in 1989. He had an extensive list of long-term interests including playing handball, gardening, politics, economics, nutrition, theater, attending Smithsonian classes, and his cats, including Kitty who adopted him three years ago. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Suella Wood and Cecelia Kinnsch, and his brother, David. Also preceding him in death were two nephews and his brothers-in-law, Ed Schagrin and Jack Minaker. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy (Schagrin) Sever; sister, Elaine Minaker; sisters-in-law, Lorrie Sever and Carole Lee Schagrin; brother-in-law, Don Kinnsch, 14 nieces and nephews, their children, and their children''s children. Services will be private.
