Allily Killebrew McLawhorn

Mrs. Allily Killebrew McLawhorn transitioned from earthly labor to her heavenly reward on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 8:35 p.m. at her home. She was born on January 6, 1929 in Pitt County to the late Nellie Maye and was reared by the late Joseph and the late Lizzie Killebrew. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. McLawhorn, Sr.; sister, Catherine Moye; brother, Wilbur Maye.

Mrs. McLawhorn was a legend, giving 80 years of dedicated service to Mount Calvary FWB Church. She was affiliated with the Mother Board, Usher Board #1, Pastor Aid, Home Mission and Housekeeping. She was also affiliated with Ladies Delight #10 Order of Eastern Star, Moyewood and Winterville Senior Citizens.

Mrs. McLawhorn attended Fleming Street School, C.M. Eppes and earned her G.E.D. through Pitt Community College. She was employed with the Pitt County Court House and retired after many years of service with the Department of Social Service in its Housekeeping Department.

She leaves cherished memories with her children, James T. McLawhorn, Jr. (Barbara), Columbia, SC, Melvin McLawhorn, Sr. (Sandra) Greenville, NC, Barredell McLawhorn (Peggy), Warner Robbins, GA, Belinda M. Gallop, Greenville, NC, Michael McLawhorn, of the home and Christopher McLawhorn (Lisa), Grimesland, NC; her sister, Mary L. King, Winterville, NC, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 411 Watagua Avenue, Greenville, NC. Burial will be held at Homestead Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the church.
