Members of the Helvenston family,

There are never enough words to express the loss of a loved one, but I to hope that his moment in history can make a difference in the world.

I was a big fan of Combat Mission never missing an episode, therefore, I remember Scott. Always so full of energy and excitment.

You should be a proud family of all his extraordinary accomplishments. Just from hearing his friend on GMA, you could feel the love and how deeply he will be missed.

May you always have an angel to watch over you.

To the family of the brave Mr. Scott Helvenston

I have read so many great things about Mr. Scott. I wish I could have met him. I just want to let you know that I am lifting your family up in prayer every second of each day. My dad Wesley Batalona was with Mr. Scott on March 31 and I know for a fact that they are together now. May God's hands comfort you during this time. I hope that one day we will all be able to meet. Mr. Scott you are a hero to this country and to me! Thank you for everything that you've done. I know you are being rewarded. You will forever be in my heart. YOU ARE A HERO!!!

Dear Katy and Jason:

It's been years since you used to shuttle Jason, Lori and I all over the place in junior high. I hope you remember me as well as I do you. When I heard Scott's name on TV, I just could not believe it. Words cannot express the magnitude of your sorrow, but know that this country grieves beside you for your loss. Although I did not know Scott, he was an honorable person and I'm certain his absence will always be felt. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and Scott's friends. God bless you all.

Sincerely,

Angela Barrett

Dear Katie, I know how much Scott meant to you and I know how sadly you will miss him from now on. I regret that I never had the opportunity to meet Scott, and to know him. But I did see his numerous photos, videos and awards of accomplishment. There is no doubt that you had more to be proud of then most mothers. I wish I could be more eloquent but its not within me. I hate to use cliches but I think there is a lot of truth to this one. "Only the good die young".

Peace be with you my friend.
