BOWEN, Obadiah Obadiah Bowen passed away on April 7, 2004 at the Athabasca Auxiliary Nursing Care Home at the age of 97 years. Born on May 16, 1907, in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, he was the ninth child born to Willis and Jeanie Bowen and was predeceased by his wife Eva Mae (Mapp) in 1972, his baby daughter Yvonne in 1941, and a son Oliver in 2000. He was also predeceased by his father and mother, all his sisters and his brothers. Obadiah is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean and Shirley Bowen of Edmonton, four sons: Vernon (Lois) of Calgary, Dennis, Barry and Jack of Edmonton; two grandsons Shawn Cory and Adam John of Calgary, one daughter in law Jan Bowen and step-daughter Cassandra of Calgary. He is also survived by two sister in laws Elaine Bowen (Winnipeg): Farris Williams (Vancouver) and one brother in law Lester Mapp (Amber Valley), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and close friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday April 16, 2004 at 11:00am at Southside Pentecostal Assembly, 2821 - 109 St., Edmonton. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in remembrance of Obadiah be made to the Friends of Obadiah Place Society, Lansdowne P.O. Box 45076, Edmonton AB, T6H 5Y1.
