Olga M "Susie" Bruning

Olga "Susie" Bruning, 94, of Arnold, Maryland, passed away on November 21, 2023. She was born on November 14, 1929, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Armin J. Bruning , Founder of Bruning Paints, and Olga Menzel Bruning, former secretary to the Ambassador of Chile. Olga was pre-deceased by her brother, Armin M. Bruning.

Olga was a feisty and determined lady who had a passion for life. After raising her family, she pursued her dream of becoming a lawyer. At the age of 42, she enrolled in the University of Maryland Law School, graduating in 1975. She then embarked on a successful career, working for 15 years at the Baltimore City State's Attorney Office, where she served as the former Head of the Sex Offense Unit. Following that, she worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, dedicating her skills and knowledge to public service until 1999.

In addition to her professional achievements, Olga had a deep love for the water. She enjoyed swimming, crabbing, and fishing, and her college years were filled with playing Russian Bank and winning the Bridge Championship. Throughout her life, she was an active member of various bridge clubs, finding joy in the game and the friendships she formed.

Olga will be dearly missed by her three adult children, John Raccuglia, Sabrina Raccuglia, and James Raccuglia. She also leaves behind her loving niece, Christine Rathod (Jitendra), as well as great nieces and nephews. Her many friends and colleagues, including her dear friend and caregiver, Angela Allen, will also cherish her memory, as well as her beloved Labradoodles, Oliver and Angus.

A spring memorial service will be held at Sandy Point State Park to celebrate Olga's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your favorite charity. Olga was particularly passionate about supporting elephants through the World Wildlife Foundation.

Olga's determination, resilience, and love for life will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
