Olivia Ann Bigger Thompson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2025.
Jackson - Olivia Ann Bigger Thompson died at the age of 76 on March 14th, 2025, after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease. Olivia was born on December 19, 1948 in Memphis, TN and spent her childhood in Marion, Arkansas where her father Wyly Bigger was the mayor. She attended Marion High School where she enjoyed the title of 'Miss Marion High.' Olivia matriculated at the University of Mississippi where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority and named 'Miss Tri-Delt Ole Miss' in 1968. While attending university she met and married Ned Arnold Feltenstein, Jr. of Meridian, Mississippi in 1969. Olivia then became the devoted mother of three boys: Ned Arnold Feltenstein, III, Matthew Wyly Feltenstein and Guy Williamson Feltenstein.

Olivia, or "Ollie" as she was affably known, lived the remainder of her life in Jackson, Mississippi where she was an active member of the community. She married Dr. Robert Harvey Thompson, Jr in 1993. Both Ollie and "Dr. Bob", as he was known, were faithful members of St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral. Ever the smiling extrovert, Ollie enjoyed working many sales jobs, from stints working retail at Harold's and High Cotton to selling insurance for New York Life. She was known to her family and friends as a loving wife and mother, an excellent cook, accomplished seamstress, and animal lover. She was notably kind and funny-a golden-hearted person who would offer her help or a hug to anyone in need. Olivia never met a stranger, was a mother to many, and a friend to all.

Olivia is preceded in death by her parents Edward Wyly and Willie Mae Williamson Bigger, as well as her husband Dr. Robert Harvey Thompson, Jr. She is survived by her brother Edward Wyly Bigger, Jr of Marion, Arkansas and her sister Jane Bigger Nold of Eliot, Maine; as well as her children Ned Arnold Feltenstein, III of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Matthew Wyly Feltenstein (Kate Kynvin) of Frederick, Maryland; Guy Williamson Feltenstein (Rivers Spencer) of New Orleans, Louisiana; Mary Eleanor Taylor (Winston Kyle Taylor) of Atlanta, Georgia and Philip Alexander Thompson of Jackson, Mississippi; as well as her grandchildren, Jack Alan Kynvin, Jessie Mae Kynvin, and Robert Winston Taylor.

A memorial service for Olivia Thompson will be held at St. Andrew's Episcopal Cathedral on April 28th, 2025. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Mustard Seed of Jackson or the Mississippi Animal Rescue League.
