I met Olive when she moved to Santa Monica. Right away, the word fiesty springs to mind. We'd spend time together at special occasion dinners of mutual friends and she was such a treat - her humor, her strength, and her feisty nature were impressive. I didn't know her well, but I do know her daughters, Anne & Pauline. So I know she's the kind of woman who raised two compassionate, beautiful, intelligent and incredibly fun daughters who loved her very much. Rest well, Olive, you've left a powerful legacy that lives on. We're planting a tree in your memory, Olive, I expect it will grow to be a mighty Oak.

Sincere condolences to Anne, Pauline, Collene and Peggy on the sad passing of Olive, a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and sister. I have known Olive since 1959 when I married her brother Pat. She not only became my sister in-law but also a dear friend. We always looked forward to her visits back to Ireland and her regular phone calls, all treasured memories. When my husband Pat passed away in 1998, she continued to keep in contact with me and my family, always supporting us, she never missed phoning me on his anniversary, birthday and Christmas, always a true friend. I will dearly miss our chats. Until we meet again, rest peacefully in heaven with your husband Pat, your parents and siblings Ar Dheis de go raibh a hAnam Mae McManus and family, Patricia, Aileen, Seamus & Edel.

Pauline, Anne & Colleen, deepest condolences to you all at the loss of your mother/grandmother. Auntie Olive is with her siblings now, our Dad Hubert, who was the baby of the siblings, Uncle Pat, Aunt Maura & Betty & her nephew Raymond. May she rest in peace.

We all have fond memories of Auntie Olive coming home to Cloneyegan, bring bags of clothes for Deirdre as they were now too small for Anne & Pauline but a joy for the rest of us, buying Mark a little dove for his confirmation which he speaks of even now, coming home when our mother died when we were children & being with us during that tragic time & spending time with Orla on many occasions just having the `chat´. Rest easy now in the bosom of peace.

From Orla Mason (nee McManus, Cloneyegan)
Aunt Olive and I would write letters to each other when I was just a child. One particular letter will always stand out for me. I wrote to Olive telling her how I had fallen in love with a "really nice yellow striped shirt" and how "I didn't have any money to buy it & I couldn't ask Dad for it. I waited patiently for Olive´s reply letter to arrive I wondered would she be able to read between the lines! Well she did, she sent me a very crisp 10 dollar bill. Dad wondered why his sister would send me money so he called her and she explained my cunning letter. But Aunt Olive asked Dad never to say anything to me that he knew, and he did not. As I got older, Aunt Olive, Dad and I had a great laugh about it.
