Dear John and Family - Omeda was my friend and co-laborer, and it was my great joy to be her pastor. But in some of our private conversations, I think she was my pastor. She always encouraged me in the path of the Lord's work. She reminds me of Dorcas in Acts 9:36. They said of her, "...this woman was full of good works..." Omeda is remembered for the decades she taught our precious little ones, but I know her good works did not stop at the door of the church. She lived in the presence of her Lord everyday and served Him 7 days a week. Omeda was an inspiration to so many and we will miss her, but will always be thankful for having served with her. Here is a poem that reminds me of her, especially the last few lines.
Miss Me - But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little - but not too long
and not with your head bowed low
remember the love that we once shared
Miss me - but let me go
For this journey that we must all take
and each must go alone
it's all a part of the Master's plan
a step on the road to home
When you are lonely, and sick of heart
go to the friends we know
and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - but let me go. Anonymous

Omeda has always been such a special lady. She and John were two of the first people we could call friends when we first moved here over thirty years ago. Three generations of our family will think of her and smile. Such sweet memories.

Omeda was a good friend and wonderful neighbor of ours for a few years when we first moved into our home on Hackney Lane in The Colony in 1985.
My son Jonathan, who is now deceased, absolutely LOVED her dearly! I've no doubt that Jonathan was there to welcome her Home! (And my sister said to ask if she brought her recipes...since he loved her cooking.) She was also just a wonderful person and dedicated Christian and will be sorely missed! There are not enough words to tell how much I admired Omeda. One of the finest Christian ladies I have ever met. I will miss her at church and at suppers and gatherings, as well as Bible study and women's luncheons. Beautiful, Beautiful, that describes her, inside and out!!! I know her family greatly misses her, and only they can feel the tremendous loss. Someday, someday, they will meet again, with laughter and joy.
God Bless you all,
