Ora Kramlich Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 21, 2025.
Ora D. "Dolly" (Schray) Kramlich of Whitehall, PA, passed away peacefully at Above and Beyond at the Knights in Allentown on the morning of February 17, 2025. She was 96 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Dick Kramlich to whom she was married for 65 years at the time of his death in 2015. Born in Allentown on July 23, 1928, to the late Leon and Grace (Davies) Schray, she was the eldest of their six children. Growing up in south Allentown, she attended Allentown High School, graduating in 1946. She then attended the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1949 and began a career as a Registered Nurse, working in medical surgery, ICU and ICU staff instruction, and later at the Phoebe Home, totaling nearly 40 years. She was a loyal part of a close circle of nurses from that Class of '49, known as the "Club Gang", who visited together once a month for 67 years and a long-time member of the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Assoc. Dolly and Dick were faithful members of the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua. In addition to singing on the church choir for over 60 years, she was also a Deacon, an Elder and the Treasurer for the Church. She volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a PTA officer and regularly at the local voting site. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening and, eventually, watching football on Sunday afternoons with Dick. One year she famously won the Family NFL Pool, much to the embarrassment of the rest of the family. She and Dick enjoyed traveling, visiting Ireland, Germany, Brazil, Alaska, and a memorable six-week cross-country trek in their RV. Dolly cherished the annual family vacation to the Jersey shore and later Emerald Isle, NC.

In addition to her children, daughters Joanne Matthews and Alice Wall with her husband, Jack, all of Walnutport, sons Richard Scott Kramlich and his wife Gail (Parker) of Allentown, Michael Kramlich of Coplay and Daniel Kramlich and his wife Ann Hoefer of Houston, TX; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, she is survived by sisters Esther Meyers of Allentown, Sally and her husband Tom Heffner of Northampton and brothers Robert Schray of Whitehall and Sheldon Schray and his wife Carol of Catasauqua. She is predeceased by her sister, Verona Bickert, sister-in-law, Renae (Kunkle) Schray, brothers-in-law, Donald Meyers and Ernie Bickert, and son-in-law William "Jeff" Matthews.

Services will be at Noon on Saturday March 15, 2025 in the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, 3005 S. Front St., Whitehall, PA 18052, with Rev. P. Douglas Cronce, Jr. officiating. Visitation with her family will begin at 10:30 am in the Church Fellowship Room. Interment will be private.

Contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua and please mail to the address listed above, or make checks payable to the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Assn. and please mail to 444 Pershing Blvd. Whitehall, PA 18052-6411.
