Oren Brady Obituary
SPARTANBURG, SC-- Oren L. Brady, Jr., 96, passed away on June 24, 2016 at White Oak Estates. Mr. Brady was born in Landrum, SC on March 8, 1920, son of the late Oren L. Brady, Sr. and Gussie Edwards Brady. He was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Wofford College and was a member of the Landrum First Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army in the 315th Bomb Wing in Guam from 1942 to 1946.
He served as Spartanburg County Treasurer for 20 years and a brief position as Spartanburg County Administrator until his retirement. Mr. Brady was a charter member of the Spartanburg Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, former President of Kiwanis Club, past president of SC Association of Auditors and Treasurers, past president of the National Association of County Treasurers and Finance Officers, founding board member and longtime financial advisor of the Charles Lea Center, and former mayor of Campobello, SC. After retirement, Mr. Brady was owner and operator of Frame House Antiques in Campobello, SC.
Mr. Brady is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Loomis Brady; a brother, John Lester Brady; two sons, Oren L. Brady, III (Glenda) and Jeff W. Brady (Harriett); three grandsons, Travis Brady (Kaysie), Jonathan Brady and Charles Brady all of Spartanburg; and two granddaughters, Anna Brady Raniszeski (Jordan) of Charlotte, NC and Kayla Brady Brown (Mike) of Greenville, SC.; and three great granddaughters, Sydney and Olivia Raniszeski of Charlotte, NC and Davis Brady of Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Brady was predeceased by three sisters, Helma Shields, Euna Mae Lowry, and Rebecca Cunningham.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, June 27, 2016 at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Graveside service with military rites will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Mark Bishop.

Oren was the perfect example of a public servant. He served his Nation in the military during a time of war! His served his County and State as an elected official that all of us were proud to call our friend. He was a member of the " greatest generation" as noted by Tom Brokaw in his novel! He was the type of person who was approachable by all of us no matter our station in life.
We shall miss him but his family continues his proud heritage of public service!
We have the family in our thoughts and prayers!!
