Orlando “Orly” Manahan Alcaraz passed away on Sunday evening of November 13th, 2016 with his family by his side. He was 61 years old.

Orly was born on December 21st, 1954 in Olongapo City, Philippines. After attending St. Joseph’s School, he attended Columban College prior to joining the United States Navy in 1976. Growing up Orlando was almost like an extended member of my family, He was our mailman, yet we knew him on a first name basis. I can still see the image in my mind of him making his way down Menard street to my grandmas house and my grandma running out to retrieve the mail. Even at times when my grandma would ask for mail in advance Orlando always kept a smile and positive attitude.

Even though I didn't know him personally, It is a very sad day for me as now a piece of my childhood is gone. RIP Orlando . Thank you for all the memories
