Orville Lubahn Obituary

Orville A. Lubahn, 91, of Oronoco, was called home Thursday, March 13, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born June 24, 1922, in Olmsted County, to William and Clara (nee Koenig) Lubahn. Orville attended school in Oronoco. On Oct. 23, 1942, he entered the U.S. Army, served during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged on Dec. 28, 1945. Orville married Betty Berg on Aug. 24, 1946, in Zumbrota. They farmed in the area until 1951, when they moved back to Oronoco, and he started his plumbing business. Orville sold his business and started working for the Plumber Local Union 6.

Orville enjoyed baseball, watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, western movies, NASCAR, fishing and carpentry. He also enjoyed working on old cars and tractors and being the pit boss for his three dirt track racing sons.

Orville is survived by his daughter, Carol Lubahn, of Oronoco; sons, James (Ruth) Lubahn, of Pine Island, Robert (Diane) Lubahn, of Mantorville, and Jerry (Mary) Lubahn, of Oronoco; grandchildren, Jason (Virginia) McCoy, Kirsten (Anthony) Plummer, Tina (Chris) Stolp, Jessica (Jeremy) Haire, Brandon Lubahn, Brittany Lubahn, Mistie (T.J.) Murphy and Kristin (John) Blue; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Gladys (Marvin) Olhoff, of Sacramento, Calif.; brothers, Lyle, of Rochester, Calvin, of rural Pine Island, Gordon (Mary), of Byron, and Ernest (Donna), of Waukon, Iowa; and extended Virginia Myhro family.

Orville was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, who died on April 5, 2002; brothers, Willis, Darryl and Arvin; and special friend, Virginia Myhro.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Pine Island, with Pastor John Torris Lohre and Pastor Kip Groettum officiating. Burial will be in the Oronoco Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 17, at Mahn Family Funeral Home - Mahler Chapel in Pine Island and for one hour prior to the service at the church.

I met orville a few years back at deer creek speedway and talked to him for quite a while that night.I never new him before that just from driving by his house and he would wave.Glad i got to talk with him.He was a Great person and will be missed by all that he touched.
