FAGAN, OSEE ROBERT, 90
The Honorable Osee Robert Fagan, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away at the age of 90, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at the E.T. York Hospice Center in Gainesville Florida, surrounded by his loving family.
Osee Fagan was born July 13, 1924, in Jones County, Mississippi, to Grace Smith and Lemuel Thadeus Fagan. He was predeceased by his first wife, Marilyn Burch. He is survived by his loving wife of the past 57 years, Dorothy Tison Fagan. He is survived by a sister Jayne Hope of Alachua, Florida, and A.R. 'Rudy' Fagan (Florrie) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Also surviving him are four children Lynn Bryan (W. H. 'Bear'), Laurie Jennings, Lee Fagan (Steve Holder) and son Osee Robert 'Rob' Fagan, Junior (Dee Dee) and grandchildren, Osee Robert Fagan, III 'Trey'(Lauren), Patrick Fagan, Alicia Fagan, Sunia Thiam (Cheikh), Sage Jennings, Kimberly Rittner (Mike), Tracy Lawlor (Hal), Shannon Holder, and Steven Holder, as well as eight great grandchildren.
Osee Fagan served in the US Army during WW II, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his military service, Osee attended Mississippi College, and then graduated from the University of Florida College of Law.
Osee Fagan practiced law in private practice as the founding partner of the law firm Fagan, Crouch, Anderson and Folds. Allison Folds, Esquire, currently with Folds and Walker, LLC, remained both a trusted colleague and dear friend throughout Osee's life. Osee Fagan's legal career also includes an extensive list of public service. He was elected and served as County Prosecutor for Alachua County from 1952-58. In 1958, Osee Fagan was elected to serve as a State Representative for the State of Florida House of Representatives, and was named 'outstanding freshman legislator', after his first session in 1959. He was re-elected in 1960 and 1962. After his service in the State Legislature, Osee Fagan served as the City Attorney for Gainesville for the next thirteen years. Osee Fagan was elected and served as Circuit Court Judge, for the Eighth Judicial Circuit, State of Florida, from 1979 to1990. Following his retirement, Judge Fagan served as Interim Judge for a number of cases until his health no longer permitted his public service.
Osee has been a member of the First Baptist Church for over 69 years. He also enjoyed his memberships in the Quarterback Club, Eastside Garden Club, and Gainesville Exchange Club. In his earlier years, Osee enjoyed nothing more than fishing with family and friends. In later years memorable trips were taken with Dorothy, his sister, brother, and sister-in-law. He was an avid Gator fan, and, after giving up his season tickets on the 50 yard line, never failed to find a game to watch on TV. Above all, Osee treasured time spent with his family, particularly during birthdays and on Christmas Eve.

The Fagan family played an important part in my life at First Baptist Church in Arcadia when L.T. was the pastor. What a wonderful family.
