I just found about about Ouida. My love to Lee and the family. She was an angel in our choir and we will sadly miss her but God does need his angels back so it was her time to be with Him. Never ever forgotten!!!

To the Wrights: Thanks for sharing Dr. Ouida with us at the Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA).Dr Ouida's generosity to the BBPA National Scholarship Fund was and is well appreciated. She has truly made a mark on our planet as it relates to science, humanitarianism and community advocacy. She will be truly missed. May her soul rest in peace. Ouida was characterized by her standards of excellence in all areas of life. She had a keen mind, an indominable spirit, and a passionate interest in the doings of the world.
While I remember many pleasant dinners with lively conversation over the years, the one that I cherish most is the ones at Ouida's home, surrounded by friends, presiding over a bountiful and delicious feast that included "rice and peas", one of my favorite dishes. The wine and talk flowed and Ouida was in her element, smiling, laughing and challenging her guests to defend their points of view with solid argument.
When it was time to go, we made our goodbyes with a hint of sadness: to be in her company inspired you to put forth your better self.

Sharpen your wits and shine your shoes, Heaven, Ouida is coming to dinner.

My condolences. I learned so much from Ouida over the decades. She will be greatly missed but her dedication to anti racism will live on through others.

My heart goes out to all of you. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Ouida was warm, caring, smart and to the point. I loved her insight and philosophy of life. I will always remember her fondly and keep a special place in my heart for her.

There are defining moments in all lives; those are the memories that stay with us forever. At a time in my life when I needed an angel Dr. Wright was there for me. Dinner at her beautifully appointed home & her gentle words of encouragement set my feet on the right path back to the university & a second career as a teacher. Grieve? I cannot...instead I will celebrate the life of this wonderful woman who nurtured me as if I was her own daughter. Rest in peace & I know that your entire family will continue to feel your gentle spirit surrounding them. My life is richer for having known you.
