Thank you, Father Owen, for introducing me to Patrick O'Brian and his 20 volumes that bring alive a vision of characters, events, land and seascapes representing the British Navy at the time of the Napoleonic Wars. I read and annotated all the volumes, then started through for a second read. Father Owen had read the whole collection Eight times twas of two years ago. Perhaps he fit in another read.
He wrote a heart-touching message to me in his Meditation on Holy Week to Ascension to which I was planning to respond ... one day. I am blessed to have 50+ years of memories of Fr. Owen.
Until we meet again.

I first met Fr Owen in 1970 as a philosophy student at St Mary´s College where I admired him deeply. In 2011 my mother became a resident at Mercy Retirement where Fr Owen also resided, we reconnected and he became a dear friend to both my mother and I.. Even after my moms passing in 2021 we remained in contact He was such a kind , brilliant, inspiring and gentle soul who touched my life deeply
