Kathy, I just heard the horrifying story of Owen's passing. For thirty five years or more Owen's fabulous presence was an enormous reason I've loved coming to the Cape. I cannot express the depth of my sense of loss. Last summer he gave me a piece of his brilliant photography which dominates my collection of things I love. I will never, ever forget him. Joe Kaplan ( aka, The Ugly Man, Ug for short). My love

Thank you, Owen, for everything you taught us that helped us be so successful at the Eastham Box Lunch years ago. We hope you and Jack K. are somewhere laughing and having fun again! Rest in Peace.

I'm grateful for knowing Owen and working for him 30 years ago on the breakfast shift when I was just 14. Loved his sandwiches and his humor. Owen made a positive impact on so many lives.
Thank you!

Dear Kathy and Family,
My deep sympathies for your loss.
Owen and I had both Cape Cod and Andover in common. He made the latter almost bearable. Free-thinking, talented, and one of a kind, for sure. He is missed...and I am blessed to have known him

I am shocked and saddened to hear this news. Owen was full of life: I cannot believe that he is gone. We had been out of touch for quite a while, but he reached out and called me a while ago and it was a delight to catch up with him. Owen was the best man at my wedding a long, long time ago and helped us move out of state shortly after that, taking many days to help us with this difficult move. He was a very loyal friend, always out-going, enthusiastic, with a devilish, infectious sense of humor. I will miss him.

My condolences to his family and to everyone that knew him in the community which he loved so much.

Owen's passing leaves a big hole in so many lives and in our community. As my friend and neighbor, I looked forward to seeing him and Kathy almost daily. We shared many laughs, tears, ups and downs, but mostly just a wonderful friendship. He is going to be so missed. Kathy, my heart and prayers are with you and if there is any way to help during this sad time, I'm here. Love to you. Jean

The sweet spirit, ready smile, open arms, giving nature, the impish twinkle in his eyes when he was teasing.....all this and more, we'll all miss. May all the sweet memories of Owen give you comfort.

I am still in shock over the news. Owen and I were first-year Andover room mates. I knew right then how remarkable he was. A true Renaissance man: manifold creative facets ... high-voltage energy ... skilled, adventurous mariner ... quintessential entrepreneur ... radiant charisma ... larger-than-life persona filled with derringer-do and devil-may-care ... carpe-diem passion for living ... perfect embodiment of the free spirit of Zorba the Greek. ("Life is trouble. Only death is not.... When trouble comes my way, I tighten my belt and fight!") I can't imagine the world without him. My deepest sorrow and sympathy, Kathy. Please let me know how I can help. Much love....

Dear Kathy and family,

We were very sorry to learn of Owen's passing. Owen was one of the first people we met at Box Lunch before moving to Wellfleet. He always greeted us with a smile. I soon learned we shared a love for cocker spaniels, and enjoyed meeting your adorable dogs. May God bless and comfort you at this sad time. He will be greatly missed.

With deepest sympathy,
