Paolo Rodriguez Obituary
Paolo spent his childhood in New Haven, surrounded by a large foster family and his older sister, Marilynn Rodriguez. He attended Ezra Academy, Worthington Hooker School, and Coop High School, and completed his education under the guidance of tutor Douglas Jones. Paolo formed deep connections throughout his life, counting two individuals as his best friends and maintaining friendships across the globe through his computer. His love for his four cats was profound, and he found comfort at home with his family or while embracing the waves in Ocean City, NJ.
An avid World War II historian, Paolo was preparing to start his education to become a history teacher, a dream that reflected his passion for history and education.
Paolo is survived by his mother, Randi Rubin Rodriguez; father, Sergio Rodriguez; sister, Marilynn Rodriguez; son, Alexander Giovanni Bucherati; nephews Gavin, Kellen, and Cameron; and several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. They are active members of Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven,
Funeral services will be held on November 7 at Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven, 150 Derby Ave., Orange, CT, at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at the temple cemetery in Shelton. Shiva services will continue at the Rubin Rodriguez home in Westville through Sunday evening.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Paolo's memory may be made to C.A.T.S., c/o Mew To You, 959 Asbury Ave., Ocean City, NJ; the Rabbi Gerry Breiger Youth Leadership Fund; the TE Holocaust Fund; or the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. These contributions will honor Paolo's love for animals and his commitment to community and education.

Words will never be enough to state the significance Paolo had upon my life and those he interacted with. To meet him during the darkest time in my life, he was always making others laugh, making others feel recognized, connecting others together, sharing and appreciating art and history together with others. I would not be where I am today if it were not for meeting Paolo, and every day of my life I will think about him and bring up memories of him every chance that I get. Deepest condolences and thoughts for all those affected, his memory and history will always be remembered and cherished. He was a hero of justice.

I miss you so much, Paolo. It's truly heartbreaking that I'll never hear your voice, your laugh, the random stuff you'd say, or just anything from you ever again. Above all, thank you for just being who you are, a genuine person, and making me and our friends laugh all the time. I will cherish every moment we have had together forever.

Man.. It seems like just yesterday Abdul told me I have to meet Paolo, 8 years ago.. I never would have imagined he would become such a big part of my life, how much a single person could influence my sense of humor. I used to think hardly anything was funny and seeing how Paolo lightheartedly enjoyed even the simplest things really changed my sense of humor. I wish I could've met him. I missed the opportunity of a lifetime. May his soul rest in peace with the Lord. I sincerely loved you, Paolo. I've cried everyday since I received word of your passing. I was only an acquaintance to Paolo, but I feel he'd refer to anyone he'd shared pleasantries with as a friend. The few deeper interactions I had with him made me feel like we'd known each other for years. He never took half-measures when it came to making people feel welcome in his presence. It's a shame that the world has lost such a warm, bright soul.
