1957 - 2013
With courage and dignity on April 6, 2013 after a lengthy battle with cancer surrounded by his family. Pat is survived by his beloved wife Assunta Fugnitto and his loving children Bianca and Gian Luca. Pat is predeceased by his parents Pietro and Angelina. He also leaves behind his father-in-law Mario Fugnitto and his mother-in-law Adrianna, as well as his brothers-in-law Tony (Mary) and Johnny, and his brothers, Vincenzo, Enio and Frankie (Luisa) and his nephews, nieces. He also leaves to mourn his many friends, including Mario who was there to support him on his long journey. Visitation will be held at The Magnus Poirier Funeral Home at Fleury and Pie-IX on April 9 from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Funeral services on April 10 at the Maria Ausiliatrice Church on 855 Boulevard Maurice Duplessis, RDP at 11 a.m.
Special thanks to the staff of the Jewish General Hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Melnychuk for his care and compassion. Donations can be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Jewish General Hospital Foundation.

My deepest sympathies go out to Assunta, Bianca, and Gian Luca. Pat was very influential and inspiring, he taught me everything I know about accounting. I try to teach the rookies the same way that he taught me, even use the same stories and methods that he used on me. I always thought about him and how he would react and what he would do in certain situations, that's how much he meant to me. Pat, I have not seen you in many years but you were always there with me, your ledgers full and may you rest in peace.

A man of intellect without compromising his ability to appreciate others for their uniqueness as individuals.
A man who set objectives and never failed to achieve them. A man with an essence of leadership that carried many to their heights of greatness.
Taking no prisoners, Pat fought and won in his demonstration of ultimate strength. Superman as some called him for his great courage and unbeatable fight from within. A man who did not allow any pain on those he loved. Protecting them and shielding them until his last breathe.
An honourable man with a mission to teach his great loyalty and wisdom to his children in which he leaves a great wealth of knowledge for their future endeavours.
Pat with his sense of humour brought a smile to many faces no matter the circumstance whether referencing restaurant closures, a foot long panini for lunch, Assunta's dash down the aisle at their wedding, his thought process in selecting the best parents in law, leaving no orphans during any meal with Mario, jump starting his car with a toothbrush, advising his son to turn on the faucets or making 1+2 equal whatever you want it to be
The voice of reason to almost every conversation often finding himself in a different galaxy of logistics that only few could understand.
Pat, on behalf of all of us we remain indefinitely in admiration of your great spirit and genuine presence. In the words of Tina Turner: You're simply the best.

Dear Pat,
Last night we came to pay our respects and I was not surprised see such a large crowd come together just for YOU. We always had great respect, but I believe this time everyone came together to celebrate your Joie de vivre and the way you enjoyed your life with Assunta, Bianca and Gian Luca. Even though you were not among us, we felt your presence and it radiated across the entire room. Imagine, you even managed to bring “Frank the Tank” to tears. But once we wiped away our tears, everyone shared so many funny stories and the good times we spent with you and Assunta. Annie told me that there were times that she only needed to look at you and she would be already on the floor balling her eyes out of laughter! But then again that sense of humor was felt the minute you entered a room and we would all gravitate towards you. I really did want to bust out the “chariots of fire” moves but I contained myself. Instead I will reserve that for when we have that “pizza dinner date” that I promised and we will raise our glass to YOU, OUR FRIEND. FOREVER A LEGEND.

Everything I need to say about my dad can't be said in a few minutes…
He was an amazing person who was hard working, humble and most of all funny, up until the end.
He was an amazing father and no words would truly explain how amazing he was. One thing is for sure, he loved me, my mom and brother so much that he would have done anything for us…I mean he got us a dog even though he hated dogs, but he instantly fell in love with Rusty. Throughout our lives he taught us so much, like being independent and strong, being humble, showing compassion and forgiveness, but most importantly he taught us how important family was. He constantly drilled it in out heads that family needed to stick together – “blood is thicker than water” one of his many quotes.
In the last few years I was lucky enough to not only have an amazing father, but an amazing friend, my best friend. I could have told him anything and there was never any judgment, and he always had wise advice…he was always the rational one. I wouldn't trade those precious moments that we had for anything in the world.
He was the strongest person I knew, a true fighter. He never gave up no matter what and he kept fighting until the end. If I could become even half the person he was I would have accomplished something great. I know that he physically may not be here but all the memories, advice and one-liners will live on through us, so he will never truly be gone. He will be with me every single step of the way throughout this crazy journey we call life. He's a part of who I am, and he will continue to live on, and never be forgotten. I'm going to keep my promise to him and go on all those crazy adventures we spoke about, and I know he's going to be there right next to me enjoying the crazy ride.
I know he's probably looking down right now and he's smiling, and that's how he would want to be remembered, through laughter and humor. He would want us to celebrate his life, rather than mourn his death.
I won't say goodbye because goodbye is too permanent and final, so until we meet again, I know you'll be waiting for us.

Dearest Assunta & family, My deapest condolences for the loss of a wonderful man. His suffering is finaly over and God will be with you to go on till we all meet again on the other side! If anyone understands, it is I, with the loss of my husband 4 months ago. We have gone through these emotions together and my heart and prayers continue to go out to you and your children.
