We just learned of Pat's passing. We were saddened to learn of this. He was a great and knowledgeble "tax man". He faced his illness with dignity and grace. Our deepest sympathy to Pat's family. He will be missed.

I was getting my info together for my annual visit with Pat, and just found out about his passing. Seems like he was doing our taxes forever. I looked forward to sitting down with him each spring for a good talk, mostly about things other then taxes. He was such a nice man and took the strees out of tax season. He handled our little account with much care and professionalism, as if we were big timers. I will miss him and our yearly chats.

Pat was the kindest, gentlest person I have ever had the privilege to know. Of course, his knowledge of tax matters was legendary (I suspected that Pat knew more about taxes than the IRS does) and many of us sought him out for that reason. But I must confess that I believe at times I was eager to have a tax dilemma about which to consult him just to have an "excuse" to experience the joy of being in his presence and listening to him talk. I treasure every moment I ever spent with him (which was mostly in the tax classes he taught) or just talking with him on the phone. One of my fondest memories is the first time I met him when on a whim I wandered into his pet store and there he stood holding a bird. He managed to convince me that the bird would do me no harm if I wanted to stroke its feathers (which I did, and he was right – the bird refrained from biting me!). In recent months I also frequently sought him out for the reassurance that he was alright, which he always provided with his quick wit and infectious grin. Pat was a great teacher – yes, of mundane tax matters, but more importantly of how to live life: to not take anything for granted, to appreciate even the little things, and to find the humor in things as often as possible. I longed to sit down with him and pose the question: “Pat, after all you have been through, what would you say REALLY matters?” I already know what his answer is but still want to hear it from him.

Pat was an inspiration to all of us at H&R Block. There are few in the business of income tax preparation who had his knowledge. He was helpful, humble and I was proud to count him as a friend and mentor.

Pat worked very hard and very quietly. More often than not you would find him at one of his two workplaces. He was a kind a generous man with an easy laugh. With a smile, he readily shared his knowledge with trainees (I was one) or anyone who needed complex topics explained simply. Pat was very loyal to his friends, his clients, and even to H&R Block. I had the great pleasure of knowing and working with Pat on-and-off over the last ten years.
When Pat was stricken, there was a courage and confidence that he showed. I had the great pleasure of sharing a meal with him in recent months. I was awed by his positive outlook and strength of spirit.
There is a great hole in the hearts of his friends, family, clients, and coworkers. And there is a huge void in structure of H&R Block in Western Pennsylvania.
I shall miss you Pasquale.

My deepest and heartfelt sadness for the family of Pat. I have known Pat for many years through our Association at H&R Block as fellow Office Leaders and the many titles we have held over the years. Pat was the most helpful of Associates at H&R Block and a huge void will be felt throughout H&R Block.
Pat was always willing to help, never to busy and always with a smile in his voice and on his face.
May your faith bring you closer as a family as you face the tomorrows without him. I feel your sadness and I weep with you today. May God give you strength and lean on your fond memories to bring you comfort.

Pat was a great friend and a mentor. First as an employer, and second as an adviser that helped a young graduate form a business. He was generous beyond all measure. Pat was kind to everyone, trusted everyone, and judged none. I can't put into words the gratefulness I have for him being a part of my life and everything he did to help. I'll miss our great conversations over dinner, and wrestling Bif the parrot to release shirt buttons, or even customers :) My sympathies and prayers to all friends and family. He will be dearly missed.
