Dad, I can't begin to tell you how much I am missing you. Mom needs you so much right now, and I pray that you will look after her and keep her peaceful and calm. The house is not the same without you, and words cannot express how lucky Ida, Josie and myself were to have such a special dad. I will forever keep all of the memories we shared as a family in my heart. Love your daughter, Milva

To my daddy,
how very lucky heaven is to have such a special person as you. There is no doubt in my mind that you have already perfected the gates of heaven with your artistic craft of carpentry.
Daddy, there is not a day that goes by that you are not in my thoughts. I was always your little girl and I cheish the fond memories of you taking Frank & I swimming to Hillcrest Park (in the wading pool) as very young children.
I am so humbly honoured to call your my father. You sacrificed so much for your children to give us a better life. For that, I am so truly grateful. There will never be another person as hard working as you.
Please watch over Mom and keep her safe & peacful. I know how much you both meant and loved eachother.
Forever in my heart,
your little girl Josie

Pasquale Toscano's Eulogy
We are gathered here today, in the presence of the Lord, to remember and pay tribute to Pasquale Toscno. My name is Amanda Fusca, and I am honored to be standing here on behalf of our family to reflect upon the life of my grandfather.
My Nonno was born in Roccella Ionica, in Reggio Calabria, Italy on August 1, 1926. At a young age he learned the art of cabinet and furniture making alongside his father, Francesco in their workshop. From that time on, woodworking became a passion and the central focus throughout his entire life.
Nonno was always ambitious and adventurous, and always dreamed of exploring new places and cultures, so at the age of 18 he left his parents and siblings and went to Argentina. It was there that he discovered his appreciation and love for dance, especially the tango. After living there for 3 years he went back to Italy where he joined the Marines and served his country for 4 years. Upon his completion he met my grandmother, Assunta Letteri, and they married in 1953. There was nothing more that my grandfather treasured and took great pride in than the house he built in Roccella for his wife and family.
Believing that Canada offered more opportunity for his family, Nonno ventured alone and settled in the small town of Chapleau, Ontario where he began working for the Canadian Pacific Railway. Though times were challenging and temperatures reached well below 20 degrees, he always remained strong and positive. A few years later CP Rail moved the company to Toronto, and therefore Toronto became Nonno's new home. He spent nearly 10 years away from his wife and two daughters, Ada and Milva, but he always made the effort to see them in Italy ever chance he had. They were all reunited as a family in Toronto on October of 1966, and 49 Tyrrel Avenue became their permanent home. In 1969, my grandparents were blessed with their beautiful twins, Josie and Frank, and thus his family was complete.
Nonno was not a perfect man, he was an anxious individual who could never sit still; he was our "energizer bunny", always running from one place to another. He never failed to express his views, or have heated debates surrounding politics or history. He was somewhat of a socialist and believed that all people should be equal, and that there should be no separation between classes; therefore there would be peace and freedom of conflict. He was sometimes impatient, especially when people were late; you see, Nonno was never late for any appointment. He was an avid reader of great novels, and recited Dante's "The Divine Comedy" and Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables", on many occasions. My grandfather never missed a soccer game, and celebrated on St.Clair on all of Italy's victories. You would always catch Nonno basking in the sun on a summer's day, and he absolutely loved the ocean; he referred to the ocean as a vast expanse of beauty that never ceased to end. Nonno was always happy, he loved telling jokes, he never complained that he was tired, his generosity with everyone was endless and he would give his shirt off his back to anyone.
My grandfather was very well known in his community. Everyone knew His name. His white garage was always open and he was always busy in his workshop; his white garage became legendary. Anyone who passed by, he would always greet with a friendly hello, and he loved chatting with the neighbours. He was a perfectionist at his craft, and never said no to family or friends, neighbours or strangers that asked for work to be done in their homes. I am sure that most of you here today have a memory of my grandfather's work of carpentry.
There was nothing more important to my grandfather than his family. He was the provider and my grandmother was the banker. He never wanted to dine in restaurants and only ate my grandmother's cooking. He loved to drink his wine and beer and took joy in family gatherings. You would never catch him in a suit or tie; instead he preferred his jeans and t-shirts, and in the summer his shorts and white sneakers. He never went anywhere without his cap; his caps became his identity.
His daughters are honored to describe their father as a humble and simple man. He was the most hardworking and honest person they have ever known.. He taught them to appreciate the simple things in life and to respect and treat everyone equally.
Nonno was a devoted husband that loved his wife unconditionally. He always provided for his family. He devoted 35 years of service to CP Rail, never missing a day of work. My Nonno leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, his 3 daughters, his 7 grandchildren, and his 4 great- grandchildren. He will always be remembered with a hammer in his hands, his clothing always covered in sawdust, and his love for wood.
In closing, our family would like to sincerely thank each and every one of you here today for all the love and support you have given our family during this difficult time. We would also like to thank Father Jim for taking time from his busy schedule to come and bless my grandparents in the hospital last week.
Today Nonno you suffer no more, today it is time to be reunited with your son and loved ones. May the Lord open the gates of heaven and embrace you with His love.
We will always remember your special smile, your caring heart and you always being there for your family. There will never be another as special as you. Today, it is time to soak up the sun. We love you, Nonno
