He was my teammate as rookies with the Phillies. I met him in 1959. He was my catcher for 2 years, and in September of 1960 he caught an entire 15 inning game in Lakeland, Florida against Sam McDowell and the Cleveland farm team. Pat and I were the battery and, after 4 hours and 9 minutes and over 260 pitches, we won the game, 6-4. Pat was one tough hombre, an aggressive and smart catcher.I was able to see him a few years later in Cincinnati when he was catching behind Johnny Bench and talked with him on the phone when he was Managing the Phil's.
I'm so sorry to hear of his death, May he rest in peace and being the Lord's arms. Adios Amigo Mio!
