Pat Jordan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2022.
Pat Jordan joins his wife, Gwen, in the loving arms of God. We'll gather our whole family together toward the end of summer to honor his life with a service at Ft Logan.

Pat graduated from Coalinga High School (home of the famous "Horned Toads"!), was recruited in 1947 as a clarinetist into the Navy and served in the Korean War, was discharged in 1951, then graduated San Diego State with a B.A. in Social Science, and joyfully married Gwen Elaine Thompson in 1954. He graduated Fuller Theological Seminar with a Master of Divinity and San Francisco Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry.

Through the years, Pat loved jogging, motorcycle riding, singing, reading, teaching the Bible, running summer camps, and driving his student bell choirs around the country!

The Reverend Doctor J. Patrick Jordan loved ministry, kept "retiring" and then couldn't help but serve another community. He served in a wide range of roles with Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, Central Presbyterian Church, Shepard of the Hills Presbyterian Church, Idaho Springs United Church, Byers Community Church, Mount Evans Hospice, and Rockland Community Church.

His delightful family legacy continues in his four children and their partners, his eleven grandchildren and their partners, and his four great grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to Charizomai International (https://charizomai.org) (discover the Reverend Doctor Rebecca Jordan-Irwin's stunning work!). Or, consider Denver Rescue Mission (https://denverrescuemission.org).
The family requests no flowers or gifts.

Pat was our IVCF staff member in Ellensburg at Central Washington College. I used to baby sit for he and Gwen. And I got chewed out by Gwen at Spirit Lake for letting Kristy wade in the lake with her tennis shoes on. Pat was an inspiration to me. I still remember some of the sayings he was famous for. Some of which were somewhat spicy. Dennis Medford, now 84.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Pat and my mother Charleen were second cousins, but they didn't know each other; even though they were both living in Pasadena, CA at nearly the same time. I found information from my Great Grandmother after my mother's death and hoped to share it with some relatives. I'm just sorry I never got to meet Pat. He sounds like a wonderful man.

May God's peace surround you and comfort you.

Love & Prayers to all our cousins. Our Uncle Pat was one of my favorite people ever. We all loved him so much. And now he is with His mom and sister too. What a wonderful reunion with Jesus!

My Dad Frank often referred to Pat as "Our Rev" because he was there in every way for the Jamison family. Neighbor, second Dad, friend, spiritual guide, party-goer, volleyball and swimming coach, and the kindest most loving person we could imagine was in our lives. And he baptized my dearest daughter under Frank's apple tree. We love you, Rev, and will have you in our hearts forever.
