Patricia Cruz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 28, 2014.
Patricia Margarita (Amaya) Cruz was born January 3rd 1947 to Mary (Olivas) Amaya and Jose Leon Amaya in Otero County Colorado. Patricia (Patsy) spent part of her childhood growing up in Rockyford, Colorado placing somewhere in the middle of the 14 children born to her parents. In 1957, at the age of 12, she moved to the San Gabriel Valley area of Southern California. As a teenager, Patsy attended La Puente High School shortly before the arrival of Johnny Roger Cruz her childhood sweetheart from Rockyford moved to the area. Patsy and Johnny soon reunited and began dating; marriage to the love of her life and the arrival of her first-born Valerie ensued. Patsy and Johnny began their life together with their daughter in El Monte, a few years later her second daughter Cathy would be born. Once pregnant with their third child and only son John in 1973, Patsy and Johnny moved to there new home in La Puente. Patsy was a stay at home mom taking care of her family and household for several years before the arrival of her youngest daughter Crystal. Patsy spent time assisting her husband in their businesses and being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Patsy enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow-up and being able to watch her great grandchildren grow as well. With the loss of Johnny in 2009 to stomach cancer a piece of her heart was taken, she continued to take care of her family and be a supportive and protective mom during these last 5 years until she herself was diagnosed with Lung Cancer September 2014. Patsy fought a good fight and endured the pain of cancer, she spent her last few weeks along side her loving family, brother Louie and wife. In October, Patsy was given bittersweet news that she was going to be a great-grandmother for the third time, this was joyous news. Patsy was excited about the new life that is coming knowing hers was ending, Patsy survived 6 weeks after her diagnosis being cared for by her family always letting everyone know not to be sad for her she was going home to be with the Lord and her husband. On the morning of October 24, 2014, with her children at her side, Patsy was reunited with the love of her life Johnny, and was welcomed to her new home in heaven with her grandson Larry, Brother Eddie and parents. Patsy will be greatly missed.
