Patricia Margaret Sgrosso Genovese

1936 - 2025

Patricia Genovese, a resident of Marietta, Georgia, peacefully passed away on March 23 in her sleep. She was 89.

Born March 16, 1936, in Patterson, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Eugenia Jean DeGise and Carmine Emiel Sgrosso.

As a member of the first graduating class of women at Boston College, Patricia earned a B.S. degree in Education and Biology in 1957. After receiving her Elementary School Certificate, she met and married her beloved, Charles S. Genovese, and moved to Kent, Connecticut. There, Charles taught high school English at Kent School, and she taught elementary school at Kent Center School for three years until becoming a mother.

Summers were spent at their second home in Schroon Lake, New York, where they enjoyed lake life for 42 years with family and neighbors who became lifelong friends.

Once her children were in highschool, Patricia returned to work at Kent School in the Admissions Department until Charles retired from teaching in June 1997. They then moved to Marietta, and embraced retirement with annual travel excursions with friends, visiting England, Spain, Italy, and Egypt, to name a few special destinations. Most of all, they cherished the extra time with their grandchildren. Paricia and Charles were married for more than 63 years, and their lives together were filled with much happiness and joy.

Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, niece, cousin and friend. Every greeting card, picture, art project, school report, or gift from her children and grandchildren was proudly displayed.

Those who knew Patricia know she placed family above all else. She was caring, thoughtful and dependable. She remembered every birthday with a handwritten card. She had a contagious laugh and was a great cook. From her Sunday pasta dinners to her homemade blueberry pies, every meal was a memorable one.

Patricia is predeceased by her grandson, Raymond E. Baltz, III of Atlanta, and is survived by her husband, Charles S. Genovese of Marietta; two children, David A. Genovese (Camilla A. Herrera) of Stamford, Connecticut, and Pamela G. Baltz (Raymond E. Baltz, Jr.) of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Carlo F. Genovese of Los Angeles and Jacqueline E. Baltz of New York City; brothers-in law, Peter R. Genovese (Richard Sargeant) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Gerard A. Genovese (Linda Genovese) of Coral Springs, Florida; and many cousins, friends and relatives.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Corso Atlanta and Bristol Hospice, who provided much loving support when it was needed.

A memorial service will be held Friday, April 25 at 1:30 p.m. at The Cathedral of Christ the King, 2699 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30305. The service will be livestreamed on https://cathedralctk.com/livestream/. Inurnment will be held privately.

I am Rosanne's little sister. I remember Pat on high school and her smart convertible with hood and thought she was so lucky. Our grandfathers were brothers and did not talk to one another and no one knows why. It was a loss on both sides. So very sorry for your loss. Pat and Charles to my mothers, Anne De Gise, 100th birthday party and these were the pictures. May her soul rest in peace.
