Mrs. Patricia Ann Gettys, born March 31, 1933 in Allegan, Michigan, daughter of Carl William Bishop and Mizpah Marcella VanKeuren, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2022, surrounded by family. Pat married Melvin Duane in 1952 and was widowed in 1962, then was married to Kenneth Gettys in 1965 and widowed in 1997. Pat graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and received certification from Kellogg Community College in early childhood development. Pat worked for Upjohn, Head Start, Matteson NH, was a courier, and as a caretaker for the Crumpton family. Pat was an avid volunteer for Hospice Care and the Churches she attended. She loved hosting family reunions and spending lots of time with her family. She enjoyed working in the garden, farming, planting flowers, and being outdoors. Pat enjoyed shopping and getting her hair and nails done with her daughter, Cheryl and granddaughter, Bobbi Jo. She enjoyed taking trips to Florida to visit her son, Tim. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friend (sister-in-law) Wanda. Pat was joyful and had a great sense of humor. She was one to make you feel welcomed and never complained about anything. Pat always found the good in all people. Pat will be deeply missed, but we know she is celebrating in Heaven with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Surviving are Pat's children, Cheryl (Jack) Elliot and Timothy Duane; grandchildren, Billie Jo Burbank, Michael (Sally) Burbank, Bobbi Jo (Will) DuBoise, Kimberly (Erik) Bell, Kenneth (Kelly) Burbank, James (Chava) Duane, Stevie Duane, Barbara Duane (Keith) Butters, Kristen (Brad) Lyle, Adam (Theresa) Gettys, as well as several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her spouses, Melvin Duane and Kenneth Gettys; children, Steven Duane, Terry Duane, Patricia Duane and David Gettys; grandchildren, Bradley Duane and Matt Gettys; siblings, Bill Bishop, Frank (Virg) Bishop, Judy Blair and Virginia Llewellyn. A Celebration of Life will be held for Pat on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Rhema Word Outreach Center, 21342 Capital Ave NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 South Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 49307 (www.leaderdog.org). I'm very lucky to had known you Pat my whole life but just recently the past couple of years was able to catch back up with you again through Tim. Once again she warmed my heart and soul talking about past memories when she would haul me and Tim to the roller rink and such. I'm so blessed to had been able to have had the opportunity to catch up with this amazing lady and hear her stories.I will miss her deeply and will always remember that beautiful smile that she wore and the biggest thing I will always will cherish will be her heart the way she cared and gave so freely.Pat you will be missed my heart is breaking I will see you again some day sooner then you know . I love you. Kimā¤

What a beautiful obituary. Aunt Pat was a sweet one to be sure. She was always loving and kind as I recall from my growing up years. Prayers for those who were closest to her.
