Patricia Holmes Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 9 to Feb. 19, 2014.
Patricia Rae (Finn) Holmes

Patti Holmes passed away peacefully the evening of February 5th with her loving husband and four daughters by her side. She is now in Heaven, a whole new person, a beautiful Angel, named Patti. She was born August 11, 1939 in Durand, Wisconsin. Patti was a graduate of Eau Claire Senior High School, class of 1957 and of Mayo Clinic School of Nursing in Rochester, MN class of 1959. She married her high school sweetheart Jim Holmes in Eau Claire on September 2, 1960. Patti did everything in her life following a rule of God first, Family and others second, and herself last. She has always prayed for others without worrying about herself and did things for her family and friends without asking for anything in return. Her husband Jim said, "She was the closest thing to an Angel here on earth." Every friend became a family member to Patti and she touched so many people in the many places she lived; Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, New York, Oklahoma and Virginia. More than anything, she cherished the time spent with her family, especially her eight grandchildren.

Left to treasure and honor her memories is her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Holmes; four daughters Brenda (Greg) Burgett of Sheboygan, Amy (Mike) Molepske of Kohler/Two Rivers, Mary (Paul) Alexander of Lino Lakes, MN, Lori (Richard) Kohl of Fairport, NY; grandchildren Joshua Kohl, Mary Molepske, Drew Alexander, Sarah Molepske, James Kohl, Leah Alexander, Charlie Burgett and Gracie Burgett; brother Gary (Deb) Finn of Menominee Falls; sister-in-law Joan Holmes of Maple Grove, MN; brother-in-laws Tom Schmidt of Fond du Lac, John Holmes of Lake Geneva; Aunt Shirley (Harshlip) Lawrence of Mondovi; Uncles Stanley Finn of California, Jack Finn of Yuma, AZ and Cousins, Nephews and a Niece. Patti was preceded in death by her mother Betty (Harshlip) Druschel, step father Arthur Druschel and her sister Judy Schmidt, Uncles Ray Lawrence, Jerry Finn and Aunt Barbara Finn.

A Celebration of Patti's life will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014 at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive. Visitation from 9 - 11 A.M. Service at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by the family in Patti's name and donated to Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center and Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of The Alzheimer's Association.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com.

Jim Holmes and his daughters wish to express a heartfelt thank you to Patti's dear friend Kathy Steinbruecker, Aurora Hospice Nurses Cindy, Ann, Mary Ann and Chaplin Marianne. We are also deeply grateful for the care, concern and prayers from many others.

To my dear that I have acquired through Patty.....Jim, Amy, Brenda with their children and spouses; along with Mary and Lori and Gary (in which I wish I had more time with all of you). Thank you Jim for welcoming me into your home and making me feel part of you family. Amy and Brenda...you made me feel like a sister. My heart breaks with all of you and every day I miss this lovely woman and her smile. To see her for the first time and the transformation over time of what she did of miracles....People would not understand.....She spoke...she got up and danced with Jim her last dance and it brought tears to my eyes...she smiled and remembered her children and especially her grandchildren by calling out their names.....I say a miracle of a disease that is so rare....I am so touched by all of you!!!! My emotions are hard to keep a work/life balance away but in this case, NO!!!! I have seen to many wonders and so many glorious things between a patient and family and a disease process that beat all odds. She knew who all of you and she finally let go when she know that all of you were together at the end!!!!! I am so blessed to have been part of your lives and hope to be part of your lives for many more years to come. I will help you with your journey's with the alzheimer's association awareness. I hope you become part to help me and educate me as well because you did.....We learned a lot from each other. I love you all. I miss her a lot and miss her smile.....words cannot explain the emptiness as much as your's too. My healing will heal and I will heal and I hope healing soothes over time......

She was a beautiful and wonderful classmate! I treasure the good times we had in school and at Grace Lutheran church in Eau Claire. May she rest in peace. Yes, Lord, let it be so.
