Patricia Joyce Hornby, 81, of Corinth, Tx., passed away at her home on February 13, 2023. She was born in Ravenswood, W. Virginia on October 5, 1941 to James and Charity (Weekley) Moore, Jr.
Raised by her mother (Charity, taught nursing), and father (“Big Jim”, an attorney) in Ashland, KY, Pat was initially known as Joyce (her middle name) until she attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville where the introduction of computers in classes forced her to change her name Patricia (her first name). At the University of Tennessee, she met her husband to be, Larry, and was wed in Nashville, TN in October, 1963. Her husband’s career took off, the family grew to include three daughters (Deborah, Elizabeth, and Sarah), they proceeded to move around the country, eventually landing in Lewisville, and then Corinth, TX. After 59 plus years of marriage, evolving into 4 generations (3 children, 7 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren to date), Pat will be sorely missed.
She is survived by her husband, Lawrence “Larry” Hornby, daughters, Debbie Wilson and husband, Bob of Corinth, Tx., Liz Oatis and husband Kenneth of Florida, and Sarah Perry and husband Ron of Hickory Creek, Tx., her mother, Charity Moore, of Ashland, Ky., sister, Melody Dean of Florida and brother, James H. Moore III and wife Jane of Kentucky, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors.
