KEOTA-Patrica “Patty” Horning, age 62, of Keota, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Washington County Hospital.
Patty was born November 19, 1961, in Washington, to Donald and Edna (Pacha) Sieren and graduated from Keota High School in 1980, she married Charles Rex Horning at St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota. They started their family and worked side by side on the farm. She then received her RN through Indian Hills Community College. Patty worked at the Washington County Medical Clinic for 12 years and then the University of Iowa for 19 years before retiring. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Clear Creek Heritage Association. Patty enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids, doing home renovations and all farm work, including working with the cows, driving the combine and baling hay.
Survivors include her husband: Rex of Keota; three children: Jillian (Dan) Redlinger of Keota, Jaris (Chelsi) Horning of Keota and Dillon (Tessa) Horning of Fairfield; eight grandchildren: Jaylah, Dacin, Daxton and Darin Redlinger, Rowen, Greyden and Cole Horning, Bentley Horning and one on the way; parents: Donald and Edna Sieren of Keota; two brothers: Joe (Penny) Sieren of Keota and Kenny (Kathy) Sieren of Keota; five sisters: Donna (Tom) Baker of Richland, Barb (Randy) Bombei of Richland, Marge (Jeff) Lindquist of Greentop, Missouri and Lynn (Chris) Winn of Ollie and mother-in-law: Joan Horning of Keota. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter: Leighton Horning; sister: Sharon Hagist and father-in-law: Charles Horning.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in rural Harper, with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries - Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
A memorial fund has been established for the Clear Creek Heritage Association or general fund. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota is caring for Patty and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
