I will always cherish those moments I spent by Pat's side, and her genuine smile and the warmth of her hands. I would kneel by her bedside and offer her ice water and strawberry yogurt (her favorite). She would touch my cheek and that meant I could give her a kiss on the cheek, and she would give me a kiss on my cheek as well. All of us that knew Pat must know that we now have an angel watching over us. Thank you for sharing Pat with me.

Thinking of you all as you gather to remember an awesome woman. I know Aunt Pat is having a joyous reunion with so many who passed before her. We are so happy to have known her as adults as well as cherishing our childhood memories of her. Keeping family and friends in our thoughts and prayers.

To me she has always been "Aunt Pat." I have childhood memories of Thanksgiving dinners in Holland, MI with her and my cousins. Though I left Michigan many years ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to visit her in her Florida home on a number of occasions. I can still recall her voice, the way she always called me "Jimmy", and the way she always made you feel you were welcome in her home. She was a loving influence in my life, and she will be fondly remembered and missed.

To my cousins, and all the others whose lives she touched, I know there are no words I can offer to lessen the loss, but at least we were fortunate enough to have had her in our lives.

I had the privilege of meeting Pat where she was most recently living. The day before I started serving as the chaplain (July 2015), I had tripped and fallen and hit my chin on the pavement, and on my first day, had a significant bruise on my chin. When I introduced myself to Pat, she gazed at my chin and with great concern asked "What happened?" For the next year and a half, I joked about it, and she would always smile. Just a week or two before she died, she gazed at a cross that had been decorated with Christmas greens and white lights. It brought tears to her eyes, and she kept repeating "It's very nice!" I miss Pat very much and will keep her loved ones in my prayers. Sincerely, Cindy N, Chaplain
