John P. Connolly

MEREDITH ; John P. Connolly, 54, of Meredith and North Strafford died Thursday, April 17, 2008, due to an automobile accident.

Mr. Connolly was born July 2, 1953, in Berlin; he graduated from Gorham High School and attended Plymouth State College.

He worked for the New Hampshire Humane Society for many years. He owned and operated two convenience stores in the Lakes Region. He later worked for the Town of Meredith Water Department for 10 years. He then owned his own caretaking business in the Meredith and Center Harbor area before moving to North Strafford with his wife, Martha, where they established, owned and operated Connolly Cabins and Campground for the past five years.

He enjoyed his garden, four-wheeling, wildlife and playing the drums. He had a love for his family, friends, campers, and just enjoyed life to its fullest. "Bumpa" also very much enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren ; Uma, Carson, Delaney, and Katie ; who will all miss him dearly.

Survivors include a son, David Connolly, and wife Nong and their daughter, Uma, of Eliot, Maine; a daughter, Allison Sleeper, and husband Michael and their son, Carson, and daughter Delaney of Meredith; three stepchildren, Jennifer Morrison and husband Josh of Groveton and their daughter, Katie; Andy Dorais and his wife, Michelin, of Dover; and Peter Dorais of Meredith. Survivors also include longtime friend and mother of his children Dale Connolly and a brother, Herb Connolly of Florida.

Mr. Connolly was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Louise (Meuse) Connolly; his brother, Normand Connolly, and his wife, Martha (Werdin) Connolly.

There will be a celebration of life at Waukewan Golf Course on Thursday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m.
