Patricia Ann Lange, of
Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully and comfortably at the Sentara Regional Medical Center in Williamsburg on Monday, March 27, 2023, at the age of 77, after a brief illness.
Pat was born on September 8, 1945, at St. Joseph's hospital in Patterson NJ. She was the firstborn of Marguerite and Robert Farnsworth. She attended Rutgers University in
New Brunswick, New Jersey to major in Accounting and Finance for her bachelor's degree.
As a young woman, Pat lived for a time in Hazlet NJ where she started her family, later relocating to Freehold NJ and eventually Somerset NJ where she lived for 18 years raising her daughters Kathleen Marie DeFelice and Julia Ann Carter. There were many happy memories and gatherings of family and friends, however, Pat's dream had always been to retire in
Williamsburg, VA. So, in the fall of 2000, Pat put her plan to work, and she sold her home in Somerset NJ and began making her dream a reality by purchasing land and building a house in a quiet neighborhood in
Williamsburg, VA.
Pat was always a determined, hard-working, self-confident, career-oriented person who was determined to achieve the goals she set for herself. She was an astute and tenacious businesswoman and held many job titles throughout her working years to include Controller, Financial Manager, Vice President, and CFO before fully retiring in 2020.
Always an avid traveler, Pat's wanderlust often found her vacationing in popular and desirable locations such as the Islands of Hawaii, an ongoing favorite destination that she shared with her family and friends. She also visited Aruba, the Virgin Islands, and many other islands in the Caribbean for a break in her busy work life. Pat worked hard and played hard. Once Kathy and Julie were young children, the focus for vacation was often in Orlando FL. Pat loved for her children and later her grandchildren to have fun and gather together.
She had a passion for gardening and enjoyed being outdoors. The colorful blooms and various shrubs and trees that she lovingly attended to around her home could keep her busy for hours and smiling for days. At each of her homes, she had beautiful gardens which were custom designed by her so no matter what season it was, there was always something blooming to brighten her day.
Pat will be remembered as a generous and genuine sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, friend, neighbor, and acquaintance. She often accepted the challenge of organizing family functions and get-togethers with friends and relatives, always with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye.
Pat is survived by her daughters and their families: Kathleen Marie (Lange) DeFelice and Rich DeFelice (grand-children, Tyler Michael Lange, Aimee Marie DeFelice and Aiden James DeFelice) , Julia Ann (Lange) Carter and Russell Holmes (Grand-Children, Nevaeh Caroline Holmes, Dylan Vincent Carter and Layla Patricia Holmes); three sisters, Carol Jeanne (CJ) (Farnsworth) Sturtevant, Virginia Marie Farnsworth, and Mary (Farnsworth) DiCarlo; and two brothers John Robert Farnsworth and Gregory Paul Farnsworth. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Edward Farnsworth, Mother, Marguerite Angus Tuthill Farnsworth, brothers, Michael James Farnsworth, and William Peter Farnsworth.
A Celebration of life will be arranged in
Williamsburg, VA in which the family will welcome friends and relatives to attend at a date to be determined.
