GREENSBORO - Mary Dorothy Jinnette Brazelle Slaughter, of Greensboro, left this earth, Monday, February 12, 2007, at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service Chapel, with Deborah Suess, Pastor of First Friends Meeting, officiating. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park.
Dot was born Wednesday, April 24, 1918, in Goldsboro, the second living child of the late John Carson and Anne Lillian Outland Jinnette. Dot also lived in Greensboro, Richmond, Va., and Nakina, and returned to Greensboro to spend her last years near her family. She was a loving mother, a wise and caring wife, best sister, dear aunt, and most thoughtful friend. She was a sharp, intelligent, capable lady with a light in her eye, a spark in her heart and she lived the work of God. All those who knew her will miss dot immensely. She gave her heart and love to us all, and we shall always have her endearing kindness and sweetness to remember her by. A lovelier lady never lived.
Her first husband, Stuart E. Brazelle (World War II) preceded Dot to heaven, as did her second husband, Burton L. Slaughter; an infant sister, Sarah Jinnette; her older brother, Allen J. Jinnette; and her youngest sister, Margaret J. Barrow.
Surviving her are her two sons and her daughter-in-law, S. Andrew Brazelle and his wife, Beverley, of Forty Fort, Pa., and the Reverend Michael A. Brazelle, of Spruce Pine; step-daughter, Virginia S. Arthur, of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Stuart E. Brazelle II, Mack R. Brazelle, Jay Brazelle and his wife, Eliza Diener-Brazelle; her younger sisters and brother-in-law, Ester J. Tilley, Ina Brower and her husband, Doug; her dear and caring niece, Rebecca McGlothilin and her husband, Roy; niece, Rae Bartlett and her husband, Russ and a tremendous number of other nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gateway Education Center, 3205 East Wendover Avenue, Greensboro, N.C. 27405-6433

Dear Andy and Mike and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Aunt Dot. She was a wonderful person. I will always remember her great banana sandwiches she made when we were little. I am so glad we got mom and her and Aunt Julia together a few years back...it was great listening to them all. I love you all.

I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Dot's passing. I have been out of touch with her for many years and yet she stayed in touch with my sister, Nancy Slaughter though the years. My prayers are with the family. I am Lyn Slaughter's (Burton's brother's) youngest daughter. I always liked her!

Aunt Dot was a wonderful woman. Although we didn't see each other once she moved to NC, she never failed to send me a Christmas card and bring me up to date on her family. She will be sorely missed.
