Patricia Marinas Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 3, 2025.
Patricia Marie "Trish" Marinas (Caliva), 76, passed away on February 25, 2025, in McKinney, Texas, near her home in Anna. Previously, she resided in many cities: Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; White Sands, NM; San Jose, CA; Charlottesville, VA; and Brookfield, CT. Born on October 13, 1948, in Manila, Trish spent her early years in the Philippines before moving to the United States. She graduated from St. Mary's in Chicago, Illinois, in 1967. Throughout her career as an administrative assistant, she worked for public institutions such as Fannie Mae, the Santa Clara County Housing Authority, and various departments at San Jose State University. She retired in 2013 after a fulfilling career dedicated to serving others, especially students. Trish is survived by her son Brian Christopher Marinas and her daughter Larisa (Jason) Trina Marinas. She is preceded in death by her father, Trinidad Luna Caliva; her mother, Cemilita Banca Caliva; and her younger sister, JoAnn Banca Caliva. A woman of deep faith, Trish was baptized Catholic and attended parochial schools before later being baptized again by immersion into the Baptist denomination. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the center of her life and sustained her through many trials, including divorce, the loss of her parents, and chronic illnesses such as vertigo and hearing loss. She actively participated in the Filipino Ministry at Liberty Baptist Church in San Jose, California, where she found fellowship and grew in Christ. Beyond her faith and career, Trish had a passion for cooking and a great love of food and fellowship. She was known for her generosity, sense of humor, and gift for wordplay-qualities that endeared her to many. Despite facing numerous health challenges, she remained steadfast in providing for her family and cultivating lifelong friendships. Trish's legacy is one of unwavering faith and enduring friendships. Those who share her belief in Christ take comfort in knowing that she has now attained eternal life. As written in John 11:25: "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."

In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Trish's memory to the Filipino Ministry of Liberty Baptist Church, San Jose, CA (libertybaptist.org/give) or to the Friends of Israel Gospel Ministry (foi.org).
