Patricia McDevitt Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 9, 2016.
Trish passed aware peacefully on April 9, 2016, being held in the loving arms of family and friends, ending her battle with lung cancer. As I write a bit about her life I don't want it to be an obituary of her death. I, Mary Jane McDevitt gave birth to Patricia on October 18, 1965 in Pottstown, PA. She lived in Secane with two loving grandparents, John E. McDevitt, Sr. and Melinda H. McDevitt (nee Whelan), both deceased. In Secane is where she met her forever childhood friends, where her younger sister Michelle "Mickey" and brother James "Jimmer" came to live with her. She didn't take to them at first, although that changed with time into a loving bond that lasted through time and distance. Our family moved to Lester where she attended Interboro, finishing eleventh grade. She got her first job at an Accountant's office and realized how important a diploma was to her earning ability so she got her GED. She worked for several doctors at different times and made good friends there. The happenings in those offices were an ample supply of jokes and laughter. She bought a home in Ridley after giving birth to her daughter Ashley McDevitt several years earlier. She left Ridley to follow her heart and moved to Ogdensburg, NY where she tried running her own business but it closed. She gave birth to her son Ethan LaRose sixteen years after Ashley. Trish got a job doing home health care and then went to work in retail. She made several girlfriends who enjoyed band nights and dancing. She was ecstatic when the winter doldrums were over so they could go to yard sales, always looking for a bargain. Spending time with her children and grandchildren, going on vacation and trips were something she looked forward to. Although living in New York she considered Delaware County her home and long to live here again. Her story doesn't end here. It will continue in the life of her daughter Ashley McDevitt and her young son Ethan LaRose, and in the lives of her grandchildren Payton McDevitt and Owen Joanette, all remembering her life as they tell their stories. Stories told by her sister Michelle Savage (nee TerBush) to her family, and stories old by her brother James TerBush/McBride to his family. Trish's two uncles John E. McDevitt, Jr. and family, and Edward B. McDevitt, Sr. and family, an aunt Linda Swan and family, and the family of her recently deceased Aunt Margaret Gerini, all have their own memories and stories to tell. As for me, my story was enriched by the birth of that dark haired, dark eyed bundle of love. A baby, a child, a woman of whom I'm so grateful to have held at the beginning and the end. She will be missed and loved by us all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Saturday, July 30th after 12 noon at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood, PA 19074 followed by a Memorial Service at 1:30 p.m. Int. Private.
