MELTZER PATRICIA DIANE, Ph.D.
Dr. Patricia Diane Meltzer, age 71, of Mt. Lebanon, peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Center for Compassionate Care in Mount Lebanon, after a long struggle with colon cancer. Patricia was born January 28, 1941 in Pittsburgh. Loving wife of Joel Meltzer; the daughter of the late Phillip Earl and Genevieve Mae (Bungert) Cook; dear sister of Philip E. Cook, Jr.; nephew, Philip E. Cook, III; and great- nephew, Philip E. Cook IV; along with several cousins. Patricia was a graduate of Grove City College and received a doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. At various times in her career she was an elementary school teacher, a professor at Community College of Allegheny County and worked in management for the City of Pittsburgh and Weirton Steel Corporation. Friends welcome Wednesday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to Family Hospice and Palliative Care, 50 Moffett Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15243.

I never met Pat. We spoke on the phone several times and sent E-Mails often. Pat was a distant cousin but above all, a very good friend who I really miss.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and I hope in time, the pain will ease.
