Patricia (Carstensen) Procida

August 10, 1932 - February 24, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia (Carstensen) Procida, who left us peacefully on February 24, 2025, at the age of 92. The daughter of Herbert and Margaret Cyrilla Carstensen, she was born and raised in San Francisco, CA. Patricia lived a life full of compassion and dedication to her family, friends and patients.

She married Donald Procida on November 12, 1955 and they shared a life together in the Bay Area and Sacramento for 57 years until his passing. She is survived by her children George, Kevin, Katherine and Margaret Therese; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Bill Carstensen, and beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patricia graduated from Notre Dame des Victoires High School and St. Joseph College of Nursing in San Francisco. She devoted her career to caring for others as a nurse in hospital and office settings. Even after retirement, she remained a source of comfort and wisdom to her loved ones and friends.

Patricia enjoyed exploring her Irish culture and became quite an expert in conducting genealogy research. She shared her findings and helped many families along the way.

She will be remembered for her grace, strength, wit, intelligence, and the kindness and warmth she extended to everyone who knew her.

At Patricia's request, no public service will be held. To make a donation in her honor, visit this link, https://supportmercyfoundation.org/special-giving-mmt, for Mercy McMahon Terrace Assisted Living, her home-away-from-home where she received caring assistance in the final months of her life.

Rest in peace, Patricia. We will miss you forever.

As a distant in-law my contact with Pat was limited to the genealogical investigation of the Daly clan. She was very helpful and gracious of her time. Requiescat in Pacem.

Aunt Pat, and uncle Don were very special to me as they were my Godparents. Soooo many fond family memories from the time they lived on Lagomarsino to all the family pool parties on Idle Wild. Events that helped mold my life. Thanks for that. Aunt Pat I will miss you but these memories will last forever. Karen

My sister was extremely bright and considerate and caring. She graduated from Notre Dame De Victore in San Francisco and St. Joseph Nursing College as a registered nurse.I remember meeting Donald Procida ,her future husband during their courtship in the early 50s and family dinners at our home in Burlingame. They were married in 1955 and purchased a new home in San Bruno. A few years later they moved to Sacramento. A memory in particular that repeated almost always was riding in our car traveling from the peninsula to Sacramento for a day visit with my sister and Don and my father driving round and round unable to fond the correct street where they lived! This happened on every visit! Much laughing once we arrived .
Pat and Donald were always wonderful hosts .I know Pat loved her family and they loved her
Pat , I miss you so much and I will always love you .I miss our telephone calls when I would start by announcing "Hi Pat ...It's your brother and she would always say " Hello Brother "
I miss her so much

Great grandma procida to me was someone who I always felt comfortable around she was someone who would hear you and would make sure you felt heard with her words. I remember as a 7-9 year old calling her and just asking her about her life and I would always seem to be able to relate even though we were so different as people and with our experiences which I will cherish forever I love you grandma rest easy.

Aw Nana we miss you so much. She and I had so much fun whenever I'd call or visit. She always talked about how much she loved growing up in San Francisco, so many childhood memories for her. She's so strong and was a champion through the last few years, even if they weren't always the easiest. Love and miss you always Nana.
