Patricia Quinton Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 9, 2025.
Patricia Ann Quinton, 79, of Freeport, NY, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Pat was born on June 25, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY and though she lived most of her life in Freeport, she considered herself first and foremost a Brooklyn girl. In 1966 she married her husband, Stephen, and moved to Long Island where they raised their three children. A volunteer stint at the local prekindergarten led to a 42-year career as a teacher's aide in Freeport's Cleveland Avenue and Columbus Avenue schools. Pat loved her job-she hardly missed a day-and especially loved her co-workers, who were among her dearest friends. Pat's greatest love was for her family. She was a loving and supportive mother and would do anything for her children. Her three grandchildren were her pride and joy and they, in turn, adored their grandmother. Pat had a sharp sense of humor and loved music, bookstores, old movies, good food, desserts, long walks, cats, and the NY Mets. She is remembered for her loving heart, her thoughtfulness and generosity, and her toughness in the face of challenging situations. Pat is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Stephen, their children Dawn Rose (Steven), Michelle Quinton, and Mark Quinton (Rosy), grandchildren Benjamin, Melanie, and Owen, and her nephew Michael Holt (Gaetana), as well as numerous in-laws and nieces and nephews from the Quinton side of the family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Delia Roeder, her sister Alvina Holt, and her niece Carol Musgrove. A memorial gathering will take place at Hungerford and Clark Funeral Home, 110 Pine Street in Freeport on Thursday, June 12th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
