Patricia Shaw Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2025.
Patricia Hill Shaw, 79, of Cibolo, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on July 22, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on July 1, 1946, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to Stella Zaramba and Earl Hill, Patricia was the seventh of ten children in a bustling household. From an early age, she was shaped by

kindness, independence, and a strong work ethic, qualities that remained with her throughout her life. While attending Conemaugh High School, Patricia began serving others as a candy striper at a local hospital and continued volunteering with the United Way through out her life although she felt very strongly that charity started at home. She was also proud to be the head cheerleader in high school, a role that foreshadowed how she would continue cheering on her family and others throughout her life.

In 1966, she married Thomas Rovansek, with whom she welcomed a daughter, Kimberly Holmgreen. Patricia later built a long and dedicated career as an accountant, serving more than 50 years at NL Industries and later Baker Hughes in Houston, Texas. She was admired for her reliability, loyalty, and the quick smile that accompanied her selfless spirit.

Patricia's greatest joy was found in her family. She married the love of her life, Ray Lee Shaw, in 1984 and together they shared a bond filled with love, devotion, and simple pleasures, days spent fishing, trips to the beach, barbecuing, and visiting family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, always showing up to support those she loved. Whether it was a band concert, football game, or dance recital, she made time to be present. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as "Mimi," the one they turned to for encouragement, advice, unconditional love, and even a last minute order from Amazon.

She will be remembered as a gentle soul and a thoughtful listener, one who spoke with purpose and never without care. An optimist with a practical spirit, Patricia's guidance was simple, kind, and generous. Her legacy is one of devotion, strength, faith, and quiet grace.

Patricia is survived by her husband, Ray Lee Shaw; her daughter, Dr. Kimberly Holmgreen and husband Andrew, along with grandchildren Alexandra, Charlotte, Nils, and Celia Astrid Holmgreen; stepchildren Nicole C. Shaw, Elisa Skinner and husband Wayne, and Waylon Shaw; and step-grandchildren Stephen Swearingen, Sarah Swearingen, and Haley McKown. She is also survived by her siblings Alice Kimberling, Robert Hill, Bernice Rodenburg, James Hill, Edward Hill, six-great-grandchildren, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, September 5, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, San Antonio, TX, with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In

lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).
