Mama you always loved to sing to us "I love you says the whipporwill" and many more. My favorite was your Christmas song "I love Santa he's a fine fine man." You gave me the love of music that is deep in my heart. And I'll try to pass this on to my grandchildren.

Patsy, I am so grateful to have been able to be your friend, to have had the privilege of being able to listen to you, and most importantly, to have been able to learn from you. You taught me the most important lesson in my life, by example and words, not to judge anyone because, " everybody has their idiosyncrasies" I can rest easy knowing that my children had the best grandmother they could possibly have had. I love you , miss you, and will never forget what you have taught me.

so sorry to hear of ms. patsy's passing. she was a joy to talk with and spoke of her 9 children ,the pontalba buildings and her love of new orleans.. i had the priveledge of meeting her at malta park as i would pass medicines on the weekends. i looked forward to seeing her every weekend..she will be missed. god bless you miss patsy... my prayers are with her family during this time. eternal rest grant to her oh lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.. terri hartung

Patsy was extraordinarily gifted in so many ways, but what always struck me most was her incredible generosity. She shared everything she had, most especially love for people and love for life, and she made the world a better place. Thankfully, her wit, intellect, compassion and generosity have been passed to her children and grandchildren, and in a lesser way to all of us who knew her, so her light will continue to shine.

Dear Jackie, Joe and Beth, I send you much love this morning and will be with you in my thoughts this morning as I am unable to be there for the funeral. I have such wonderful memories of your mom. Over the years, since we moved away to Rochester, when I would visit New Orleans and time permitted, I would visit your mom with Stephan and Susan. Each time we would see Patsy, we would receive an enthusiastic welcome and leave feeling so grateful for having seen her.

My thoughts and condolences to Ms. Patsy's family and friends. May your wonderful memories of her life and laughter bring you comfort.

Dearest Aunt Patsy, you will always be held close. Such lovely memories of you:easy conversation, sage advice, and, of course, a pot of something on the stove. You provided refuge for so many and did so with graciousness and a warmth. Your Nativity was the first bit of family lore Michael shared shared with me- i think that I asked who took which role and he said, "it depends on the year." An impressive lady who could also change a diaper faster than anyone I have ever seen.! Thanks for all that you gave to us. The twinkle will never depart.

Whenever my father would arrive, you would say "Baaaaaaaaab!" There was no Thanksgiving greater than Thanksgiving at Patsy's. You will be missed. Love

When I first heard of Patsy's demise it was a moment of sorrow but it has become a time of reflection upon my long friendship with her, her wonderful family, and the many friends she made throughout her long life.

Patsy was, indeed, unique and eccentric. I enjoyed the many times I spent with her, listening--in some instances--to stories I had heard more than once, but I never tired of her tone of voice, the gleam in her eyes, and her unique way of describing the world as she understood it.

She and her family lived the Gospel as it was intended. They fed the hungry, clothed the naked, and gave shelter to the homeless. They didn't preach; they acted. My family and I were blessed to know them.

"Where y'at, Babe," was a common greeting she would say to me when we met or talked on the phone. She, Saint Patsy as many of us referred to her, is in heaven above. She gave great love and kindness in heaps. Those were her gifts and they will be her reward. She is in the company of those who went before her in death. She is, I have no doubt, with the angels and saints where she deservedly will reign for enternity, waiting for the rest of us to join her there. That's where she's at.

My love and regrets go to her family and friends. Find comfort in our memories of this delighftul woman.

I first met Patsy and her beautiful family when I moved to 1229 Royal Steet in the early 70's. I was fascinated by the Nativity Scenes, especially since I had been a Wise Man in the Nativity celebration in my all-female high school in the 60's! I always think of Patsy on Christmas whether we are together or apart. I continued my friendship with Patsy and her family through many connections - Patsy became my "Second Momma" when my own Mother passed away. Patsy always had comforting words for me, welcoming me into her life and her heart any time. I learned how to live life from Patsy. I was truly shocked and saddened to see her beautiful, always smiling face in my newspaper this morning. I will always be grateful to Patsy - will always try to follow her guidance and pray that her family will be comforted in their time of sadness. Thank you, Patsy, for many great Memories and Lessons for Living.

Patsy Dawl, what do I say? Look what you have done!You have done the most wonderful job at the job of "LIFE", you raised 9 wonderful children; each and everyone of them full of personality, you have warmed peoples hearts all over the World, made me, who was an only child, feel like I had a huge family, and most of all, you have never judged or criticized anyone! I have never seen anyone who gave so much of themselves for everyone else - all the time - not sometimes, but all the time - I can't imagine what my life would have been like without your words of encouragement and confidence in my abilities and your never ending patience - I love you dearly - not a little dawl, just alot -

Mama we're sure gonna miss you for the holidays ... what are we gonna do for socks and underwear? And don't forget the stuffed artichokes, oyster stuffing and the christmas carols .... I suppose the nativity scene will be on other side ... I sure will miss you and shall always love you.

Walking up Royal Street with Patsy was a bit like a St. Patrick's Day parade (fitting, since that was the day she was born on). Every Friday we used to walk from the Pontalba Building to D.H. Holmes for lunch. As we walked, we were stopped by countless people: even Ruthie the Duck Lady had to talk to Patsy. Patsy befriended everyone. She left no one out. She offered her home to anyone in need. All this made my life much richer. She was, to put it simply, a kick. Love, K Kats (Karen Schlau)

Aunt Patsy -- I write this with tears flowing as I miss you dearly, and writing to you now makes your passing real! But I know, without doubt, the Heavens are livelier when Patsy Sipos enters those Pearly Gates!!

You've never met a stranger, or allowed anyone to feel anything but loved and welcomed in your home. 1223 & Ursulines were a gathering place for family, friends and anyone else who happened by....always a warm meal, a song in your heart, and a smile on your face.

I will always cherish my many fond childhood memories...and never will a wire hangar & aluminum foil be anything but "Angel's Wings"!

I have been blessed these 51 years to enjoy you in my life...and for that, and much more, I am grateful. We have lost a family icon....but the Heavens have gained one helluva grand lady!! Find Aunt Betty, and get the music going!

I have been very lucky to travel to many places, see and experince many people of all kind, but there can and wont be anyone as genuine lovable and more intresting than my Mom . Sorry for your Loss

Patsy was wonderful to be around. She was a dear and loyal friend to my late mother, Rita, who entertained with Patsy at the USO. My condolences to the family.

I loved Patsy from the minute I met her, and I always will. Just knowing her has enriched my life and made me a better person. I sure will miss you Patsy; I can hear your voice now.

Patsy was a true “people person”, always welcoming, always interested and always compassionate, she also had many tales to tell, it's a shame she didn't write a book.
I feel profoundly honoured and privileged to have known Patsy and even to have become her friend, my only regret is that I didn't meet her many years earlier. They say you only miss the ones you love, I will miss you Patsy.

The red beans always ready for strays, of which there was an abundance. Jobs for those in need ... Otto Candies on speed dial. There is only one Patsy. Sage advice at` the ready. Her passing marks the end of an era.

Patsy was one of the most memorable people I've ever known. Since Beth introduced us at Ursulines Street--with the guestbook, the fruit compote, and her stories for the first time--Patsy always made me feel welcome. I'm grateful to have known Patsy and I'm grateful to be part of her family. I can't imagine life without either. I will miss her very much.
