Patricia Moore Sullivan

Patricia (Patty to her friends and family) Moore Sullivan, 95, of Winnetka, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children, on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Patty was born and raised in Buffalo, NY to Donald and Gail Moore, along with her three older sisters, Gloria, Jeanne and Suzanne. She attended Amherst Central High School followed by Cornell University, earning a degree in food and nutrition which she put to good use in everything from running a commercial kitchen to food styling in magazines in New York City, and later making wonderful meals for her family. She met her husband of 58 years, the late Bert O Sullivan, Jr. of Kenilworth, at a friend's wedding, moved to Chicago and was engaged three weeks later. They settled in Winnetka in 1955 where they had four adored children, Gail Burke, Amy (Mike) Rogers, Bert (Karen) and Brian (Amy) as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She adored her family and put them first above all else. Patty's favorite thing to do was to attend first her children's, then her grandchildren's and eventually her great grandchildren's sporting events, dance and music recitals, plays and all the activities and celebrations that they were a part of. Patty was the mom to all, with an ease about her that allowed friends and children's friends alike to talk with her about anything and everything. She dispensed her wisdom and opinions freely, good or bad. You knew you were part of the family when you felt comfortable enough (which never took long) to walk in the back door and find her in her kitchen and share a conversation or a laugh - which she did a lot. Her interest in your hopes, dreams and life were a hallmark of her desire to connect. Patty played a mean game of doubles tennis until her knees gave out, was an avid gardener with membership in the Green Meadows Garden Club and treasurer of the Winnetka Council of Garden Clubs for decades. She played bridge with her friends and loved talking on the phone with friends and family if she couldn't be with them in person. Patty enjoyed spending time on Sanibel Island, FL and in Presque Isle, WI, especially when surrounded by her family and friends.The family will hold a private celebration this summer.
