In the loving memory of Patricia Ann Tate, affectionately known as "Pat" or "Grandma," who radiated a spirit of unwavering faith and selflessness, leaving an enduring legacy that resonates with the words of our Savior, Jesus Christ: "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Born on January 15, 1945, in El Paso, Texas, Pat's life was a testament to her deep devotion to God and her unwavering commitment to serving others. Her journey began in Los Angeles, California, when her family relocated there in 1954. Guided by her unyielding faith, she excelled academically and embraced a multitude of extracurricular activities, recognizing that her talents were divine gifts meant to be shared with the world.

With God's guidance, Pat embarked on a purpose-filled path, touching countless lives with her boundless love and compassion. Starting as a Clerk-Receptionist at the Los Angeles Police Department, she approached her work as a sacred duty, treating every interaction as an opportunity to demonstrate God's grace and humility. Her unwavering commitment to excellence paved the way for her influential role as a Customer Service and Communications leader at United Airlines, where she dedicated over three decades to fostering unity and respect among colleagues and customers alike.

In 2004, Pat's heart led her to Appleton, Wisconsin, where she embraced a new chapter in her life, to be a support system for her grandson. Her open arms and nurturing spirit transformed her into a cherished grandmother figure to many, earning her the endearing community title of "Nana." Embracing her role with fervent love, Pat dedicated herself to nurturing the children and youth of Northeast Wisconsin, immersing herself in volunteer work with organizations such as African Heritage, Inc., Umoja, Kiwanis Club, and the Appleton Area School District. Her devotion to these endeavors illuminated the path for others, igniting a spark of hope and compassion in the hearts of all she encountered.

Today, as we bid farewell to Patricia, "Pat," "Grandma," and "Nana" Tate, we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit ascends to join her heavenly family. In the embrace of her parents, Edward Melton and Annie Mae Dillard, her siblings, Eddie and Mary, and her son, Robert Tolan, she finds eternal peace and joy. Though her physical presence may be gone, her legacy of love and devotion lives on through her grandchildren: Ryan Tolan (Amber), Christopher Tolan (Elaine), Gabrielle Tolan, and Alexandria Tolan, as well as her great-grandchildren: Winter Stone, Makai Tolan, Alexandria Vogel, and Naya Tolan. She also leaves behind her beloved nephew Brandon McMillian (Roneisha) and their son Rylan, who will forever cherish her memory. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of community family members and friends, bound together by the ties of love and shared experiences.

While Mrs.Tate may have retired from her earthly endeavors at United Airlines, today we celebrate the remarkable truth that she has now earned her ultimate wings. As her soul takes flight and soars among the angels, let us remember her as a beacon of service, love, kindness, and unwavering faith. May her example continue to inspire us all to live our lives in service to others and to walk faithfully in the path of our Lord, for it is through such actions that we honor Mrs. Tate’s memory and etch her legacy into the very fabric of our souls.

A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Faith Lutheran Church, located at 601 E. Glendale Avenue in Appleton.  A reception in the fellowship hall will follow the service.

Sweetest woman ever. Always a giggle or two when I was cleaning her house! A real gem in every way

Pat had a big heart for all, but especially children. Working with her and watching her deal with the 1st graders tutoring them with reading and spelling always made me smile. Her patience with even the most stubborn student was amazing. She was one in a billion and is so missed.

I met ms Tate when I began cleaning her house many years ago. She was such happy lovable person.. quick wit for sure with the cutest giggle. Even after I retired and passed the account on to my daughter in law, she still sent me cute messages with her emoji on different holidays lastly on mother´s days. She was a gem and will be thought of often

Most lovable, caring human I have ever met. She was full of joy all the time. As her former housekeeper I always made her laugh when I was at her home. Miss her so much, good lord had other plans for her.

I was blessed to meet Pat when I volunteered to tutor for 1st graders. She was not just a super mentor but a treasured friend. I was so lucky to have her in my life and will have a hard time knowing she is gone. Her love for her family, friends, and students was unmatchable. A gentle loving lady who considered herself one blessed lady..She was but even more so are those whose lives she touched. RIP, my good friend. It is not goodbye but see you in the future. Thank you for always being there for me.
