Patrick Chau Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 23, 2019.
Patrick Mong Lun Chau passed away on May 18, 2019 at the age of 80.

He is survived by his wife, Yu Kau Chau, his children, Allan, Albert and Anita, and their families.

Patrick was born in Kaiping, China and studied and lived in Hong Kong for 11 years before immigrating to Canada in March 1969 with his wife and 2 sons, Allan and Albert. They briefly lived in Chetwynd before settling in Vancouver and having their third child, Anita, in 1977. He and his wife worked tirelessly to raise their family, including owning a restaurant at Knight and 41st, before completing his career at UBC Food Services and retiring at the end of 2003.

Patrick was always selfless and devoted to his family, and good natured and courteous in his interactions with everyone. He was an avid learner, who was constantly taking notes, and referencing his dictionary so he could develop his English vocabulary. Family meals were always fun and meaningful for him, with many extended family gatherings over the years, and Sunday family dinners developed into a weekly tradition as his immediate family grew larger.

He worked incredibly hard to establish a good life in Canada for his family, and they are so proud to have had him as their Husband, Father, and Grandfather.
