Patrick Donnally Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 16, 2024.
Patrick Andrew Donnally, 92, of Orlando, Florida passed peacefully with family by his side at his home on October 10th of 2024.

Patrick was born on the 7th of September 1932 in South Charleston, West Viriginia to the late Charles Lewis Donnally and Gladys Olean (Bright) Donnally. As a young man he earned the elite Eagle Scout badge at the age of 13, played trumpet and coronet in the high school band and was a bugler and camp counselor at the Boy Scouts camp. Pat was also a journeyman electrician at a young age prior to being drafted into the service and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was passionate about education, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial engineering (BSIE/MSIE) from West Virgina University (WVU) along with an MBA from Rollins College in Winter Park Florida. While working on his master's degree and teaching undergraduate classes at WVU he met Bonnie Blosser who would become his future wife. Together they have 3 children and lived in various locations across the US during their life together.

Pat had an accomplished career primarily in the quality assurance field focusing on strategic and process management and he was a member of various quality associations and forums. In the later years of his career, he deeply enjoyed the opportunity to work as a professor at the University of Phoenix, taking great pride in educating his students.

Pat will be remembered as an eternal optimist with a charismatic smile and a strong moral and ethical code. He relished time spent with family and friends and was an avid and passionate golfer. Other memorable achievements include earning his private pilot's license and his membership in the American Legion. He enjoyed swimming and fitness, and the YMCA was an integral part of his life.

Pat is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie Lou (Blosser) Donnally, 3 children - Shea Lynn (Brad) Bryant of Mooresville, NC, Melissa Ann (Steve) Harris of Rocklin, CA and Kevin Patrick (Patricia) Donnally of Orlando, FL. He leaves behind 9 grandchildren - Haley, Alison, Brianna, Becca, Drew, Ayla, Benjamin, Heather and Ryan, and 2 great grandchildren - Liam and Ashton.

He is preceded in death by his brother James Edward Crow and sisters, Julia Bell (Donnally) Atkinson, Mary Francis (Roberts) Craddock, Virgina "Anne" (Donnally) Mitchell and Susan Janet (Donnally) Johnson.

Patrick will be forever missed but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Every time he would hug me to him and say "this is MY daughter". He would talk about his family with such pride.

I have super fond memories of living next door to The Donnally's in Geneva Illinois. Happy that I was able to stay in touch via Facebook with Pat and Bonnie. Pat was an impressive man, glad he had such a great ride for 92 years.

On his 92nd birthday I spent a lot of time with him while he shared his favorite childhood memories and accomplishments. There were many and the stories he shared were a glimpse into his amazing life. I will always cherish that time and am grateful that we took a moment to capture them to share with generations to come. I miss you dad.
