G'Bye, Pat, Ol' Buddy!
You left us too soon! I'm not good at this but I want you and your family to know that you will be missed! You were a friend, confidant, adversary (at times) and neighborhood presence. I first met you as a result of your own publication and hand walked distribution of THE (The Hallmark Exchange). It was a chatty neighborhood news/focal point letter that, unfortunately, died out from lack of perceived interest in these aloof times. But it prompted me to contact you via internet, which, thankfully, ballooned into a 20+ year friendship. We need more THEs!
We were very much alike, you and I, which, unfortunately, led to ups and downs in our conversations. I have put aside the downs, as I hope you had also. The ups are what I wish to remember you by in this note. We enjoyed a love of technology, especially as related to the internet. We wanted to get things to work logically and without the invasion of personal privacy/security which is so prevalent in current cyberspace dealings. Nancy and Olga will probably remember that this was a theme of many of our conversations. The personal security theme also was strong in our concern for neighborhood safety.
But the thing I will always remember you most for is your ability to stay a non-complaining presence in our neighborhood and your mental acuteness and energy in the face of your physical pain/disability due to Lyme disease. Your concern for your neighborhood's security was exemplary and inspired me to upscale our security awareness. I'll try to keep the neighborhood eye ala Pat Dunlap going as best I can.
I (we'll) miss ya, Pat! We enjoyed a lot of CLs (private joke that concerns a love of a certain brew), discussions (tech and otherwise) and all the other stuff that friends such as you and I enjoyed. You will not be forgotten. And we're better for having known ya!

Well, I guess we can take comfort that Heaven is now a safer place with Sheriff Pat on patrol. But our happy and secure little Hallmark neighborhood has lost our tireless keeper of watchful vigilance and our boundless source of amazing information. All of us will miss you, Pat, although not nearly as much as Nancy and Olga and Pepper. And all of us will have many, many happy memories of all sorts of things, from a lovesick peacock who found his "Heartbreak Hotel" near the end of Hallmark Road, to the joy rides of a scooter driver on the loose, to the casual conversations that turned into long discussions about just about anything anyplace in the world, and a beautiful baby girl who is now a wonderful young woman. And sorry as we all may be to lose you, it's likely nowhere near as sorry as your abiding spirit may be... to go on without Nancy's fantastic Christmas cookies! Peace be with you. Mir.

Our sincere and deepest condolences to the family on the loss of your loved one. Please know those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, for as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart. May the God of comfort sustain you during your grieving process
