Mr. Ecker, age 48 years, passed away at home on Monday, November 5, 2007 after
a valiant seven-month battle with cancer. He had a ready wit and winning smile. Patrick was a passionate conservationist, belonging to several worldwide

Patrick graduated in 1978 from Central High School and then went on to serve 20 years in the U.S. Navy retiring in 1999 as a Senior Chief Radioman. In 2001, Patrick earned his Masters of Science in Education degree from Old Dominion University and went
on to further serve his community as a special education teacher. He was named Teacher of the
Year in 2003 for Newtown Elementary School, and most recently made a difference at Corporate Landing Elementary School in Virginia Beach.

I have been thinking so much about Pat these last few days. What I remember best is his smile. He was just getting his secondary teeth and still losing his little ones when we first met. What a good sense of humor even when young. Smart, tenacious and persistant with a kind heart. Pat might have been the only person that understood how badly I felt when my dog died while we were visiting in Pentwater. He said he liked Friskey and wished he was still around because then we would all have a dog. He is some one I have thiught of everyday since I was eleven and will probably continue to do so until I'm gone. One of eight siblings that "went through it" with me and an important part of my growing up. I miss knowing he's there. I am so sad for his brothers and sisters. My prayers and affection are with them.

Pat and I were good friends during highschool. We lived a few blocks apart on VanBuren. From playing poker to football practice Pat always could make us laugh. One winter Pat and I went cross-country skiing at Hartwick Pines. We only had a little tent-Pat was smart enough to bring a little heater..It got down to 30 below that night. I will never forget that trip! God Bless!

Dear Lisa,
Remember:He Only Takes The Best,
God saw he was happiest and
he would not let that be.
So He put his arms around Pat and whispered "Come with Me".
With tear filled eyes you watched him suffer and fade away. Although you loved him deeply, You could not
make him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
Pat is proof, Life is Eternal.
Love and Prayers,
Your friend

We only came to know Pat in the last two years, however, on the few occasions that he, Lynne, Laura, Lee, Lisa, and Brian got together with us were some of the best times we've had. Our only memories are of fun, laughter, and friendship. We will miss you.

Goodbye to an old friend. My sympathy and prayers go out to Patrick's family. I have fond memories of Pat as I knew him way back when. My family and I lived across the street on VanBuren in Bay City back when we were both kids. Patrick and I were the same age and best buddy's....I had recently shared a story with my daughters about the time that Pat and I got married. We were 5 years old and had a pretend wedding thanks to our babysitters at the time which included Dandilyn's for flowers and a curtian for a veil. We played every day from sun up till sun down. I remember him from long ago and will treasure my memories from when I was little and life was simple. My parents Al & Ruth Kusmierz were good..good friends with his parents and remember them well.
A voice from his past just stoping by to say he will be missed, and that I am glad to hear that he had lead such a memoriable life!
Goodbye my friend.

Obviously God needed another angel for Patrick surely was an angel during his time here on earth. We were blessed to have him in our family; we're all better people for knowing him and he will be so missed. God be with Lynne and the rest of the Ecker family. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all.
