So sorry this condolence comes years late. I was just looking up people from my past and learned of Rita and Pat's passing. I worked with Rita and we shared many laughs and I was fortunate enough to be invited to their home on several occasions for delicious Italian meals and conversations and Pat was so gracious and fit right in with us girls. My deepest condolences to the family, their pride and joy, and may their memory be a blessing.

Dear Pat and family,
I just heard about your dad. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can still remember your moms laugh and your dad looking at her adoringly. They were so special. Pat - Your parents shaped who you are and I know you will always honor them in the way you live your life. I hope that all your wonderful memories of your dad make this time a little easier to bear. Again, I'm so sorry for your loss.

My sympathy goes out to the Garro family. You are in my prayers. I only met your dad once, I will always remember sitting at the table for dinner with your family and thought what a beautiful, big family you have.

To the Entire Garro Family,
I met your father at the annual bizarre. We worked together in the kitchen. His Italian wedding soup was superb. He had a warm personality and was a kind and gracious gentleman. I'm glad to have had the opportunity to share some time getting to know him. He will be missed by the parish and will always have a place in my heart.

Michelle, Dana and the entire Garro family,
I also met your father during radiation. I was immediately struck by his warmth, genuine kindness and concern for others. I knew immediately that I had met someone special, and began looking forward to our mornings together. You and your family were a blessing to me and many others during a very difficult time. I will remember your Dad always.

To the Garro family,
Like Janet (Floto/Mealy), I have the same fond memories of being at your family home in Ellet so many times during our St. Matthew's days. I smile as I recall your loving family, the constant smell of good cooking, sitting at the kitchen table with the lazy susan that I thought was so awesome, singing, cheering, and dancing in the basement, and of course, running around the neighborhood with Michelle (and sometimes us following Leanne and her friends, or little Pat following us). Being at Hoban allowed more time with the Garro family, and during the last few years, I was blessed to run into your dad a few times.
I am very sorry for your loss.
Steve, Denise, Dana, Leann, Michelle, Pat, and your families: I will never forget your mom and dad, and their amazing smiles and loving kind hearts. God bless all of you, especially as you celebrate the life of your dad (and mom).
Hugs, love, and prayers,

Dear Pat's children. I would be remiss if I did not share a tale of your father's high school football career. When Pat was a senior at RHS little old Ravenna played big old Columbus North high school. They were ranked #5 in Ohio before we played them. While they changed players practically every down, we changed one player between offense and defense.I'm sure Coach Gilchrist charged up Pat and his teammates, and Col North was probably overconfident. But Ravenna scored first, and held on. Towards the end of the first half one of their speedsters broke free, but Pat caught him from behind, caught his shoulders and flung him down. Pat was fast - sometimes. He did the same thing again in the second half. Unfortunately, the roof caved in for Ravenna with about 5 minues left in the game and we lost 26 to 7. But Pat played one heckuva game that night.

Dear Garro Family.....I will always cherish both of your beautiful parents. There are so many memories because as you all know, Junebug and I have been friends since the 1st grade at St. Matthews. I will always remember the long talks with your mom, cutting your dad's hair, trips to Michigan, and especially the night Craig and I spent at your house during the big snowstorm. But my fondest memory will always be spending Christmas Eve at your family's home. My mother Diane & my grandmother Claira would always get so upset with me because I wanted to go to the Garro's house on that night. Your parents always opened their home withe love to everyone....and, oh my.....your mother's cooking was unforgetable. I will hold all of these memories close to my heart. Now that both of your parents are gone, the torch is yours to carry on.....so make your parents proud. I want to thank Steve, Denise, Dana, LeAnne, Micky, and Patrick for sharing your parents with me......I will never forget them. All my love, Lori Clemens

To the entire Garro family...I have only fond memories of your dad, your mom, and all of you from my childhood days with Michelle. I am smiling as I vividly remember the sound of your dad's and mom's laughter as we shared meals and stories around the big round kitchen table with the lazy susan in the middle. You have been truly blessed to have your parents and each other. I am sympathizing with you in your loss. Your dad is at peace now with your mom, laughing together again...just the way we all want it to be! Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you! Love, Janet (Floto), Vince, Rachel, Maria, and Jared Mealy xoxo

Dear Pat's children. I went to school (Immaculate Conception and Ravenna Hih School) when we were growing up. Pat was a very special guy, surprisingly thoughtful for a young boy especially for the 1940s and 1950s. We served as altar boys at Mass together many times. We had some good times in grade school - Pat, Joe Miniscalco, Ron Stefancik, Dave Papiska, Johnny Mascio. As I think about it now, Pat stood out as the most unselfish, ready to help anyone. Please know that he was well-thought of even then, and it sounds as though he improved.

Steve,
I am so sorry to hear about your dad! He was a wonderful man and we thought about him often. We were thrilled when we found out Johnny received your mom's scholarship at Hoban, especially since you and I have been friends for so long. Johnny loved meeting your dad and keeping in touch with him the past 2 years. Everything you had to say about your dad makes me see just how truly wonderful your dad was to everyone he knew, but especially your family. Such a great man is finally at peace with the love of his life, your mother. Our deepest condolences to your entire family!

I first met "Paddy" seven years ago at the St Matthew Bazaar. I volunteered in the kitchen and ended up serving the soup. I soon learned that he was famous for his soup and everyone couldn't wait to have some. We talked and found out I knew his son Patrick from Hoban. He would bring me some of that soup to Acme, where I worked, from time to time . I saw him many mornings, he would stop in and get a few things before his trip to 8am mass.He would never leave without a lottery ticket and a big hug and kiss.I looked forward to seeing him and eventually all the girls in my store fell in love with him. He was special and had a magnetism that just drew people to him. It broke my heart to lose him, he was a bright spot in so many people's day.He will be so sorely missed by myself and many of my coworkers. My prayers are with his family....such a huge loss.

Dear Michelle and Garro Family,
My prayers are with all of you. I have to tell all of you, 10 months ago I met an amazing man during a trying time in my life, cancer and radiation. That man was your "Dad". Day after day, week after week we all received treatment to help cure us of cancer and I never expected to form bonds with complete strangers. But after the first hello we were no longer strangers. In his fatherly way he gave me advice, reassurance, and the strength to take things day by day. I am fortunate to have met him and may all of your memories fill you with pride and joy and give you comfort. God Bless.

Dana and the entire Garro Family-
I met your mom and dad more than twenty years ago during my visits to see Dana, Jeff, Katelynn and Stephen. I always was made to feel welcome .. part of that wonderful Italian family. Every time I visited there were so many Garros hanging out at the family house. Love and laughter filled every corner of that house and anyone who came to visit felt it. I am so sorry for your loss. His love lives on in all of you and all those that he touched. I use to be amazed by all the great 'stuff' at amazing deals that your dad/papa was constantly finding for your homes not to mention all the work that he did in those homes. Over the last few years I haven't had the chance to visit as much as I once did but I cherish the memories. Only part of Patrick Garro is gone ..for his love of family and lasting lessons remain. Rest well Mr. Garro and enjoy this next journey reunited with those that you love who greet you at the gate. - Jennifer Solberg (& Zack too)
