It was an honour and a great pleasure to have known Pat as a colleague and fellow New Democrat MPP. He was a special friend who always had a smile and a good story. It goes without saying that he was a dedicated and talented representative, but he was also a great guy.

I am saddened to learn of Pat's passing. Although we served on 'different sides' of the Legislative Assembly, his gentlemanly manner and genuine good character endeared him to all of his colleague MPP's, myself included. It was a privilege to know him and an honour to have served with him. May God's presence and peace be with his family and loved ones in abundant measure.

Dear Rose Claire and Family;
How saddened I am that I didn't stop in over the recent weeks and visit Pat to let him know what a mentor and inspiration he was to me. I had heard he wasn't well and toyed with the idea of popping in one day. How I wish I had acted on that first impulse. My only comfort now is that in his eternal life he indeed does know how much he influenced the formation of my character, my political and ethical beliefs that helped lead me to eventually run for public office myself, and that his example and values will always be a part of who I am. I learned so much from Pat and certainly enjoyed his company, whether we were doing the door to door campaigning for the provincial election or talking municipal politics when he was the Mayor of Lakeshore and I was the editor of the Tecumseh Tribune. I was blessed to have the opportunity to learn from this admirable man. And you were such a giving and supportive family that allowed others like myself to have this significant man touch our lives. Thank you for that.
I am unfortunately out of town until Friday and will miss paying my respects in person. But please know Pat is in my prayers of thanks and peace and you, his family, are in my prayers for strength in dealing with this profound loss.
Sincerely,
Cheryl Hardcastle
Deputy Mayor, Town of Tecumseh

It is with deep sadiness that we hear of Pay's passing. I met Pat when I worked in Human Resources at Ford Motor Company. He was always a gentleman and gained the respect of everyone who was in contact with him.

Pat was a dedicated and concerned, citizen, neighbour, leader and parishioner. In addition a man that my children will kindly respect as "the man in charge" at St Mary's.
