Patrick Lydon

Patrick Pat Lydon, 79, of Quincy, and formerly County Galway, Ireland, died August 29, 2015, surrounded by abundant love. Beloved son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Feeney) Lydon, he was born August 30, 1935, in Spiddal, on the beautiful shore of Galway Bay. Deeply saddened by his passing are his devoted daughters, Margaret Lydon (Thomas Shay) of Braintree, Karen Holcomb (James Jr.) of Quincy; five adored grandchildren, James and Andrea Holcomb of Quincy and Cullen, Maverick and Colton Lydon Shay of Braintree; and many loving siblings, family members and friends in Ireland and America. Mr. Lydon was a retired member of Local Union 223 for 50 years. He passionately enjoyed American history books, John Wayne films and Castle Island scenery. Unconditionally, Gramps Da, loved immeasurably each of his grandchildren and boasted equally of their high academic and extracurricular achievement. He was a quiet man, and at his request, funeral arrangements from Lydon Chapel and Blue Hill Cemetery were private. Mr. Lydon received brilliant, phenomenal care from Laurence H. Brinckerhoff, M.D. and the 7 North nurses and staff at Tufts Medical Center, all of whom appreciated his Irish charm.
